Kanon Nakamura, our exchange student, headed back to Japan very early this morning. Last Wednesday, she did a great job with her presentation, thanking our Rotary Club for hosting her this year, thanking her two host families who took her many places and opened their hearts to her. Here are the rest of her remarks:“I will also share my experience at the Rotary. Ms. Jeanne, took me to rotary activities. My favorite was “selling tickets for the car show.” And Ms. Jeanne and her husband also took me to fun places like the Musical Instrument Museum. And Mr. Thomas, my club counselor, also took me and Amity to U of A. I also really liked RYLA and going to meet many other Rotary exchange students in Tulsa.
I went to Little Tokyo in California with the Wintrodes. I thought it was funny but I enjoyed it. And I enjoyed the Holidays here. I helped make cookies, and The Wintrodes family gave me Ed Sheeran's visual journal. I was really excited. I love Ed Sheeran.
I was at Nasa in Florida and the Grand Canyon. It was a really cool experience with the Bushnells. Those are places I wanted to go before I die so I'm very happy.
Finally, I learned several things this year: I started a journal which has helped me to evaluate and improve my moods and thoughts. When my mood improved, I began to enjoy the company of others more. I have started to study more as I was not a very good student in Japan."
