Following a buffet lunch, fellowship and call to order by President BOB LOGAN, MARCIA KRUMWIEDE led us in the pledge and God Bless America with GARY HIRSCH on the piano.  A moment of silence was offered for beloved former members BILL BENNETT and KEN FLOWER.
 
An inspirational video shared the special relationship between students and their teachers and how one teacher provided the needed kidney for a student’s mother who shared the same rare blood type.  Scholarship Cup reminder of $4 /week or $52/quarter was announced by President BOB.  SCOTT VAUGHAN introduced guests and visitors.
 
A local TV newscaster, on video, introduced our program of Ted Maxwell, President/CEO of Southern Arizona Leadership Council (SALC) with his opening comment that he likes speaking to Rotary as he knows everyone in the room cares.  (SALC brings businesses together to enhance the economic and quality of life in our community through engagement, collaboration and advocacy.)
 
Happy Birthdays were celebrated by JIM WOOD, SHARYN FELTON (who had JIM WOOD as a student at Gridley Middle School), and Past President, PHIL GUTT!
 
TED FORSBERG introduced new member BOB OHLFEST.  Welcome to the Club, Bob!
 
DARRELL STEWART, Sergeant At Arms, in military garb promised to get the job done with “both arms tied behind his back”! President BOB reminded us of the generous offer for members and one guest to have free admission to the Biosphere2 until January 31, 2020.  BRUCE JACOBS announced the August 28th replacement meeting will be a social mixer at Top Golf.  Guest fee is $30 and no golf clubs are needed.  STEVE PICKERING shared how we can obtain our Classics Club Car Show Tickets to sell. 
 
President BOB announced next week’s program, Tim Swindle, Director of the UofA Lunar and Planetary Laboratory.  He closed the meeting with a quote, “Someone once told me, ‘not to bite off more than I can chew’.  And I said, ‘I’d rather choke on greatness than nibble on mediocrity’.”
