Rotary President DOT KRET called the meeting to order at 12:00 PM from the Tucson Convention Center. The lunch featured delicious salad and beef along with all kinds of extras. As always TCC banquet staff were attentive to the hungry Rotarians.
MOMENT OF SILENCE was given for member FRANK DAHL’S wife Sandy Dahl who lost her batter to cancer.
The opening of the meeting featured the “My Country Tis of Thee” with the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag lead by MARCIA KRUMWIEDE. A heartwarming Inspiration was given by KHRIS DODGE.
A small but enthusiastic guest list was shared by Dan Kalm.
Our newly added agenda item was introduced by DOT. The COOKIE MONSTER/SPONSOR this week is JIM WOOD of Merrill Lynch. Thank you JIM for supporting the Club.
President DOT kicked off the formal program by introducing my friend, Michelle Conklin, President and CEO of Tucson Botanical Gardens. Michelle has provided leadership over many improvements to the attractions in the past 15 including their one million light Holiday Promotion called Lights Up! Additionally Michelle is leading an expansion program of the grounds by purchasing 13 homes. 12 homes have been purchased along with the Japanese Garden. To truly realize the dream of an urban garden, the attractions must add some more space to their footprint.Happy Rotarian Birthdays were given to JIM MURPHY (10/3), RICK ROSE (10/16), JAKE BLUMENTHAL (11/14) and JOHN DUVAL (11/17). Happy Birthday to all!
A Blue Badge was given to RANDY SCHULTZ from STEVE PICKERING. Congratulations to RANDY!DAN KALM attempted to give away a lot of money during the 25/50/25 Raffle, but the card was not drawn. However, DIANA MADARAS won the initial pot and graciously donated the money back to Rotary. Thank you DIANA!
