Standing in for President BOB LOGAN who was in Phoenix, President-Elect JENNIFER HOFFMAN handled herself like a pro and rang the bell to start the meeting.
LYNETTE BRUSTER led us in the pledge and our National Anthem with maestro GARY HIRSCH on the piano.
Keeping with the theme of our speaker today, we enjoyed a very moving video inspiration of a young boy who earned the respect of fellow basketball players with his skills at shooting baskets disabled with hardly any arms.
Due to the volume of visitors and visiting Rotarians present to hear COACH BARNES, AIMEE GRAVES had the visitors all stand in unison.
Our speaker of the day, Coach ADIA BARNES wowed us, as she always does, with her sincere talk about how she coaches and mentors her team. Such an inspiration to parents as she told how she mentors her team to achieve high grades (the highest yet of over 3.0 for her team was just achieved), learn respect, manners, etiquite, community service and even tried to get Coach SEAN MILLER to have his team join in the etiquite lessons! Wonder if that will ever happen? She recognized and thanked Past President CHUCK SAWYER for rallying our club members to come to the finals to support the team and reported that season tickets this year for women’s basketball are at an all-time high. Although ranked in the middle this year against some big competition, she has high hopes for her team.
Birthdays were celebrated by past president DAVE GALLAHER, finally back from fishing and trailer camping for months, and MIKE TANNENBAUM who had such an impressive educational background till JENNIFER brought it down a notch saying he had once worked for a carnival! I guess we all have to start somewhere!
SCOTT VAUGHAN exchanged GENE CASAGRANDE’s red for a blue badge, and they called each other brothers….hummmm.
This year’s TCCS Car Show Chair JASON GRABOSCH gave us a pep talk and report on ticket sales with only 10 days till our 13th show! Let’s rally around and make this the best show yet everyone!
President Elect JENNIFER closed our meeting with a fitting toast and continued with the trend of finishing our meeting early, taking a selfie to prove it!
