President MARGARET HIGGINS called the meeting to order at 12 noon from the Sheraton Hotel Tucson. A delicious buffet started the meeting. The opening of the meeting featured the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag lead by JOHN DOERR followed by a repeating of the Rotary 4-way Test. A MOMENT OF SILENCE was held for MATT NANCE’S Mother Jan O’Brien, who recently passed away.
President MARGARET kicked off the formal part of the meeting by introducing JOE DANISZEWSKI who gave a truly inspirational moment about how much Rotary does for the community surrounded by caring Rotarians.
DAN KALM enthusiastically introduced many of today’s guests, which continues to be a healthy collection of prospective Rotary members.
President MARGARET first introduced ELIJAH "EL" NDOYE as a new member in the Club. She then proceeded to introduce EL as Today’s program about “The Forgotten Children” which is an inspirational program about a non-profit organization who cares for children that have been abandoned in Africa. EL answered many questions about how his organization’s caring for the children and not to be outdone. EL entertained us by playing a very unique string instrument featuring music from the African region. At the conclusion of his program, EL was asked to sign an appropriate book titled, “Making A Difference” which will go into the Make Way For Books library as we continue to promote literacy in our community.Today’s Birthdays included DAVID LOVITT (12/31), STU GOLDMAN (01/15) and SANDRA JOHNSON (01/26). Thanks for supporting our Foundations and for celebrating your birthdays with the Club. Happy Birthday!

A Paul Harris Presentation was conducted by returning to the podium, JOE DANISZEWSKI honoring President MARGARET HIGGINS. Congratulations to madam President!There was no big raffle today due to the fact the materials were at our home at the TCC, but SAA DAN promised it will be back at our next meeting. President MARGARET announced next week, February 7th is a replacement/social mixer at Tesoro Latin Kitchen. Registration is required on the Club website. The following week, February 14th is the 2nd Week so no lunch meeting. There will be the tour of the Pima CC Aviation Center. Our next lunch meeting is on February 21st at the TCC.
