Brian Watson will share insights, stories, and experiences from his law enforcement career plus what he has learned so far in the non-profit world. He will discuss the latest scams and show how most scams follow the same basic pattern. His presentation will give recent, real-life examples of victims who fell prey to various financial scams and explain which age group is the least likely to report being victimized.  Finally, he will provide resources and common-sense advice that can be used to protect yourselves, families, and friends. 
 
 
Biography - Brian Watson
 
Brian Watson spent 28 years in Federal law enforcement investigating financial crimes as a Special Agent with IRS Criminal Investigation. His primary collateral duty was being a Public Information Officer warning the public about financial related scams. He retired in 2023 and is now a Community Outreach Specialist for the non-profit R.O.S.E. Resources/Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly. In addition to the non-profit job, Brian just finished teaching a course at the University of Arizona titled “White Collar Crime”. Originally from California, Brian and his family have lived in Oro Valley almost 20 years. Today will be Brian’s 40th Rotary speech.
