Dr. Tim Dosemagen ~ Biography
Dr. Dosemagen served in the United States Air Force for 7 years during the Carter and Reagan Administrations as a Cryptologic Analyst, studying various military and industrial entities of the Peoples Republic of China while reporting to the National Security Agency.
In addition to his B.A. in East-Asian Studies from the University of Maryland, Dosemagen holds a Masters in Human Services from Murray State University and received his Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Fluent in Chinese, Dosemagen is also conversational in Korean, Russian, Spanish and German.
Dosemagen is an Eagle Scout, Paul Harris Fellow, long time Rotarian and American Legionnaire.
In the spring of 2002, Dosemagen lectured to Chinese educational community consumers in Shanghai and Nanjing, on policy changes in United States immigration procedures and postsecondary educational administration, as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. In the fall of 2004, he lectured in Beijing on leadership and organizational culture. In the fall of 2007, he lectured in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, on organizational leadership. He enjoys writing, traveling, and the great outdoors.
Dosemagen is the author of six books. The father of two, husband of 30 years and grandfather to two wonderful boys, Dosemagen has traveled to 38 of the United States, as well as Mexico, Canada, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Holland, Israel, Palestine and Jordan, having lived and worked extensively in East Asia: China, Japan & Korea.
The talented STU GOLDMAN played beautifully on the piano prior to the meeting being called to order by President CHUCK at 12:01 pm.
LIZ BAKER inspired us with talk about how awesome Tucson is and looked forward with the comment, “you haven’t seen anything yet”.
DAVID PASHKOW led us in the Pledge and the “Star Spangled Banner” accompanied by GARY HIRSCH on the piano.
NICK JONES introduced one visiting Rotarian and eight guests.
Sixty-one year old CHRIS SHIREMAN celebrated his birthday and introduced us to the “Senility”prayer.
SID HIRSH, who, unfortunately, is no longer “saving our soles”, praised his sponsor MORT SOLOT (deceased) as a member of “the greatest generation”, and commented how “lucky” his wife Marsha is for being married to him for 66 years!
PP JIM LUBINSKI introduced new member PAUL HOOKER, a native Tucsonan and shareholder in PICOR Realty where he has closed 1200 deals with a value of $450,000,000 in his 22 year career.
President CHUCK announced that our programs are now being recorded and put online on our website and can be used as make ups. The 4-Way Test is in play; just let the Rotary office know.
MIKE ORCUTT asked for people to sign up to give blood on Sept 5.
President CHUCK gave the first update on car show ticket sales by the six teams. Each team came in with more than 400 tickets sold.
MARK IRVIN introduced our speaker Fletcher McCusker, Chairman of the Rio Nuevo board, who updated us on the many, many positive happenings in downtown Tucson and the Rio Nuevo district. Quite amazing!
Our speaker autographed “The Girl and the Bicycle” for our Make Way For Books library. We toasted all the great people contributing to Tucson’s growth, and we were adjourned.
The Rotary District 5500 Conference will be held on September 28-29, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 445 S. Alvernon. Register at www.rotaryd5500.org. Room rates at the DoubleTree are available at a special rate of $79 until mid September. The Rotary Club of Tucson will host a hospitality suite on Friday evening and also host a reception on Saturday evening for incoming District Governor, Ellie Patterson. We encourage all members to attend the Friday and Saturday night festivities. This is a wonderful way to meet other Rotarians from around the District and also support our member and past president, Ellie Patterson.
