Border Patrol Overview
The Border Patrol Overview is a presentation that gives viewers an understanding about the mission of the Border Patrol and how we accomplish that mission.  The presentation will touch on hierarchy and history briefly.  It will give a background of how agents operate in the field as well as how our technology and infrastructure assist agents.  Viewers will get an understanding on the vast area of responsibility and dangers that agents face on a daily basis.  Upon conclusion of the presentation, we like to open the floor to a Q & A session, to give the opportunity for viewers to ask questions on topics they would like to know more about.

Biography – Sergio Leones, Jr.

Social/Replacement Mixer ~ Culinary Dropout
Our Replacement/Social Mixer held last Wednesday evening in the Coop at the Culinary Dropout was a really good time ...we had a big turnout, good food, drinks and lots of interesting conversations.  Plan to catch us at our next replacement mixer in May or the upcoming week of Home Hospitality events being held this month.

Culinary Dropout Mixer ~ 3/27/19

Home Hospitality Hosts Needed
Our Home Hospitality events are scheduled for the week of April 13th through the 20th and we are looking for members to host during the week.  These social events will replace our Wednesday, April 17th lunch meeting.   If you are interested in hosting a small or large group at your home, place of business or even at a restaurant, please let the office know the date, time, location and the amount of guests you will host.  The Club will provide each host $20 per member/guest that attend your event.  So let's have some fun during this Home Hospitality Week!
Fine Beer Fellowship ~ 4/12/19
Our first meeting for the Fine Beer Fellowship is Friday April 12th from 5pm – 7pm at Tap & Bottle North (Ina and Oracle).  The purpose of the meeting is for any Rotarians and their significant others/adult kids to spend some time together enjoying and talking about fine beer. It is a buy your own beer event and no cost to join. Just hanging out with like minded Rotarians. For those interested we will be happy to educate on what makes different styles of beer what they are. What goes into certain beers and introduce people to different types of beers based upon what they have liked up to this point.  For information or if you would like to attend contact Brett Stein 520-977-6156 or email brett.stein@nm.com.
Rotary's Southern AZ Day of Peace ~ 4/6/19
Rotary’s Southern Arizona Day of Peace on Saturday, April 6 is one of our best ways to build bridges of understanding in our polarized world. Rotarians and friends who register at www.rotaryd5500.org will benefit in lots of practical ways:
  • New peacebuilding skills that can be used in everyday life
  • Great ideas for speakers at meetings
  • A way of learning that is active, not passive or boring (thanks to leadership by Outward Bound)
  • A road map of the Eight Pillars of Positive Peace
This will be one of Rotary’s signature events of 2018-2019. You won’t want to miss it – please register today.
"Suds for Scholars" ~ Rotary Sales Record
NEW ROTARY SALES RECORDS set at 4th Avenue:  The Rotary Club of Tucson “Suds for Scholars” Beer Booth Bums (SSBBB’s) worked tirelessly last Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the 4th Ave Street Fair to raise money for our Scholarship Fund.  Nine different shifts were manned by 25 Rotarians, 6 Scholars (one of whom worked shifts on 2 different days), and 8 family members and friends (perhaps former friends now).  Our booth location was excellent and the SSBBB’s hoisted the Rotary flag and soared past previous total sales and tip revenues :  $27,615 in total beer, wine and water sales, and $1982 in tips!  5882 beverages were sold --  that’s 4.67 beverages per minute on average tho the peak was measured on Saturday afternoon at 28.64 per minute when the walls of the booth were temporarily  breached and a skirmish or two were lost.  But the SSBBB’s prevailed and the battle was won!  Special thanks to Shift Captains Chuck Sawyer and Bruce Richardson for charging through the chaos when the booth was constantly under siege by the thirsty masses.  The tales of tenacity and valor are too many to recount, but a good time was had by all, and most have likely recovered by now, though we are a little worried about Liz McMahon and Nancy Purdin who did double duty Saturday on the flank facing the hot sun, but who refused to step down until the day was done and victory was assured.  Gotta love that Rotary Club of Tucson Spirit!
