President JEN HOFFMAN called the meeting to order at noon.  After reciting the Pledge, our patriotic song featured God Bless America, sung by Martina McBride, followed by an inspirational story on the Lansing Michigan Fire Department and a neighbor. The lunch featured a juicy chicken dish with a delicious sauce and some healthy vegetables.

ROGER HARWELL introduced program speaker and club member, DR. WAYNE PEATE. Some unknown facts included many prestigious honors during his long career in public health. Most notable, DR. PEATE, is the founding chair of JTED, founding faculty member of UA College of Public Health and founder of WellAmerica, Inc. serving health care of 23 AZ Fire Departments.

DR. PEATE’S program featured genetic research on what causes some cancers and especially a condition, “Black Snot”, a condition a firefighter experiences after fighting a fire.  His research has led to reducing cancers by developing more effective respiratory systems for traditional and non-traditional firefighters (Forest Fires).

A Birthday celebration featured past President, HUGH THOMPSON, turning 85 years old. HUGH left with a message about selling car show tickets, “It will change lives!”

SCOTT VAUGHAN introduced today's Paul Harris recipients Jerry Daniszewski, on behalf of brother JOE, JEANNE ZETAH and BOBBY LARSON.  Notable is JEANNE and BOBBY are five-time recipients and BOBBY just married Tracy a week ago.

The meeting concluded with Sergeant of Arms KURTIS DAWSON (filling in for GARY OLSEN) bringing up CINDY BARBEE.  CINDY announced a new program to sell more Car Show raffle tickets. Login to www.tucsonclassicscarshow.com/email/ to invite your phone directory to buy Car Show tickets. It’s all automatic.

And finally, JEANNE ZETAH asked all to donate Car Show auction items on a new website developed since the car show has been cancelled. Online auction site is www.biddingforgood.com/rotaryclubtucson. Goal is to have 125 more items and raise $15,000 in 2020.

President JEN, closed the meeting with a Rotarian toast to our First Responders.
A Note From President Jen
Hello my Fellow Rotarians!

I want to say thanks to all of you who have been tuning in to Facebook to watch our meetings live or tuning in later to our YouTube channel. I know it is not the same as being able to attend the meetings in person, but at least you can stay in touch with the happenings in our Rotary Club and listen to our fantastic programs. Technology can be touchy at times, so please know we are doing all we can to enhance the virtual meeting experience. In fact if you or someone you know has some expertise in live streaming etc., let us know. Hope to see you soon!

President Jen
Rotary Masks
Jon Wang has some of these Rotary masks in his possession and was wondering if there is any interest within the membership to purchase a mask.  Please let us know if you are interested.  The price is $7 and will be billed to your Rotary account.

Thank you!
#runningforrotary
My fellow Rotarians,

I have laced up my running shoes and started #runningforrotary. I usually run 12-18 miles per week or 48-72 miles per month. You can find a form on our website www.tucsonrotary.org, under the “Member Area” tab, top right corner of the home page, or request one from Dorinna or Kari. You can sponsor me mile for mile for a month, a few months or the entire year. Your donations will go to the area of your choice for our Rotary Club Foundation or even Rotary International. How far do you think I will go #runningforrotary this year?  I would like to thank those members who have already signed up and pledged a donation.

Thank you for your support,

President Jen
