President JEN HOFFMAN called the meeting to order at noon.  After reciting the Pledge, our patriotic song featured God Bless America, sung by Martina McBride, followed by an inspirational story on the Lansing Michigan Fire Department and a neighbor. The lunch featured a juicy chicken dish with a delicious sauce and some healthy vegetables.

ROGER HARWELL introduced program speaker and club member, DR. WAYNE PEATE. Some unknown facts included many prestigious honors during his long career in public health. Most notable, DR. PEATE, is the founding chair of JTED, founding faculty member of UA College of Public Health and founder of WellAmerica, Inc. serving health care of 23 AZ Fire Departments.

DR. PEATE’S program featured genetic research on what causes some cancers and especially a condition, “Black Snot”, a condition a firefighter experiences after fighting a fire.  His research has led to reducing cancers by developing more effective respiratory systems for traditional and non-traditional firefighters (Forest Fires).

A Birthday celebration featured past President, HUGH THOMPSON, turning 85 years old. HUGH left with a message about selling car show tickets, “It will change lives!”

SCOTT VAUGHAN introduced today's Paul Harris recipients Jerry Daniszewski, on behalf of brother JOE, JEANNE ZETAH and BOBBY LARSON.  Notable is JEANNE and BOBBY are five-time recipients and BOBBY just married Tracy a week ago.

The meeting concluded with Sergeant of Arms KURTIS DAWSON (filling in for GARY OLSEN) bringing up CINDY BARBEE.  CINDY announced a new program to sell more Car Show raffle tickets.
