Biography:
Susan Gray is Chief Executive Officer of Tucson Electric Power (TEP), UniSource Energy Services, and their parent company, UNS Energy Corporation. She began her career as an engineering intern at TEP and now leads the organization with a values-driven approach that fosters a culture of safety, recognition, and transparency. Susan supports economic development in the communities TEP serves through her role as Board Chair of The Chamber of Southern Arizona. She also contributes her expertise through service on local and national boards, advancing collaboration and innovation across the energy industry.
PRESIDENT BOBBY LARSON rang the bell to welcome another full house of Rotarians, guests, and virtual viewers. MIKA COLE led the Pledge and a soaring "America the Beautiful," with KHRIS DODGE once again charming the piano keys. The club paused for a Get Well Moment for member JON PLIMPTON, recovering from recent heart surgery, with cards circulating to send him love. DAN KALM delivered this week's Inspirational Moment via the seat of his motorcycle, and SAA DRE WILLIAMS welcomed our many guests.
BOBBY crowned this week's COOKIE MONSTER, Past President KURTIS DAWSON, sponsored by the YMCA.
The program spotlight went to CAMI EVANS, who introduced Rex Scott, Pima County's District 1 Supervisor, for a candid "What's On Your Mind With Pima County Government?" Supervisor Scott, a dedicated family man who prioritizes his role as husband and father knows his first priority is as a husband and father, began his career as an educator before transitioning into public service as an elected official. Rex discussed his background and spent the rest of his time at the podium answering questions from our fellow Rotarians. I don’t know about you, but I learned a few things. He also signed a copy of "The Little Book of Government," bound for the Make Way for Books library.
Birthday cheers rang out for TINA BAUSCHATZ, JERRY SULLIVAN, MARI DEVRIES ROSS, and JIM WOOD. A Family Fun slide slipped in here to celebrate the birth of JERRY’S first Great Grandchild, a cutie pie for sure!
ROGER HARWELL pinned JOHN WILSON with his Blue Badge and DIANA CANNON did the honors for VANECIA KERR. Congratulations you two on your Blue!
SAA DRE drew a raffle ticket for the 50/50 and a guest of CAMI won, but the big pot of over $2500 will carry over to next week.
PRESIDENT BOBBY then started a new recognition, calling out Rotarians who had their membership anniversaries in July and August, what a great group of people who collective years of membership added up to several hundred, WOW!

LUIS HERNANDEZ, showed us the fabulous new RTEP merch. and PRES BOBBY reminded everyone to donate to our UA and Pima CC Scholars.

It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work on our 2026–27 Service Projects!At our Wednesday, September 2 lunch meeting, our Service Project Leads will be hosting a table for their projects and inviting you to get involved. Stop by the projects that interest you, learn more about how you can help, and sign up right at the table.
And there’s a little friendly competition! Our Project Leads will be decorating their tables to reflect the theme of their service project, so be sure to check them all out and see which one catches your eye.
But that’s not all! Every member attending the meeting will be entered into a drawing for a $400 gift certificate to Fleming’s Steakhouse.How cool is that?
We’ll also be drawing raffle prizes for Rotarians who earned five or more service points last year—another great reason to join us!
So, mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 2, and come ready for some fun, fellowship, and service. You won’t want to miss it!
