Our "Sickness & Visitation" Committee has been reorganized, and is now renamed, “MEMBER SUPPORT”.Co-chairs, Hugh Thompson and Frank Dahl tell us that the new name represents a desire to provide more support and services to our members. Adding to things like sending cards, calling, and visiting those who are sick, committee members would extend their effort to show support at things like a funeral for a family member, a shoulder to lean on in times of stress, and provide things like rides needed to meetings, the grocery store or doctor, and overall, to be receptive to any and all reasonable request by a member reaching out for support. Many are reluctant to share their difficulties and do not want them announced. Everything will go through Frank and Hugh and the members’ wishes respected.
It is felt the challenge is with communications, and encouraging members to let Frank or Hugh know if there is a need. This can be done through the office. Dorinna and Kari would then let Frank and Hugh know, and they would follow up. With over 200 members, we most likely will always have a few that could use a little help, so, we hope members will feel free to speak up, as we are here for each other.
In that this is a newly reorganized committee, we are asking for input and ideas, so, feel free to contact Hugh, Frank or our office.
We would like to have a list of people geographically spread around the valley that could possible help in special situations.
