The Car Show is upon us! Thanks to Bruce Jacobs and the Car Show leadership for our program last week. It looks like we are in good shape going into the 20th…JUST MAKE SURE TO SELL YOUR TICKETS AND TALK TO PAST PRESIDENT CLIFF ABOUT SIGNING UP TO WORK THE SHOW!Ok, I promise not to shout any more…but I could not be any more passionate about our Car Show. Since its beginning, our Club delivered a Remarkable signature event that had turned into one of the Top Ten Charity events in Tucson. Each year I am impressed not only in our ability to deliver a top fundraising event but with the comradery that I see at each and every show, it inspires me.
Every other year we attend the Rotary Large Club Conference, a select group of about 75 Clubs in the United States, that President Elect Bob Logan will be attending in Long Beach this February. It is a great venue to share ideas, learn from other Clubs and identify best practices. In 2017, Past President Cliff and I attended the meeting in Nashville, along with Dorinna. What was clear is that our Car Show is special. Other large Rotary Clubs are looking for something like what we already have in the TCCS…it is yet another activity that makes us a Remarkable Rotary Club.
So whether this is your first Car Show…or your 12th…look forward to having fun, working with your fellow Rotarians and supporting our Car Show team as we raise money for our Charities.

On to the District Conference, I want to tip my hat to Governor Kirk and the District event organizers; it was perhaps the best District Conference we have had in many years. Good speak
ers, breakout sessions and fellowship and a special appearance by President Teddy Roosevelt! As a Club we were well represented with District Governor Elect Ellie leading the way. Bob Shaff gave an excellent key note for the Friday Breakfast. Ashley Elaine York supported Interact and Rotaract and Board Member Fonda Insley was the MC for the event and did an excellent job. The Friday night hospitality event was well attended and fun…Darrell Stewart’s seafood chowder was a hit!
We also started our Thursday night mixers after taking off the summer. Kudos to Fonda for organizing our first event at the Maverick. Although a few members took to the dance floor, most just socialized and had a good time. A special thanks to member Jay Zucker for the venue and the free appetizers. We plan to continue to go to new venues for our mixers but also look forward to returning to the Maverick. On to the TERRIFIC TWELFTH!
