After President JENNIFER HOFFMAN opened the meeting, MARCY EULER led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the song “My Country Tis of Thee”.  President JEN then led us in reciting the 4 Way Test for our Inspiration.

After lunch, President JEN introduced guests Lynn Struthers Peate, a prospective family member; Kelly Spicer, a guest of JOE DANISZEWSKI who is interested in learning about our wonderful club; and Bruce Dusenberry, son of member, KATIE DUSENBERRY.

VICKIE JACOBS introduced our speaker, Conrad Miller, via Zoom.  Conrad is the Head of Operations of TuSimple, a company specializing in self-driving technology with headquarters in San Diego, Shanghai and Beijing.  The mission of TuSimple is to improve the safety and efficiency of the trucking industry by developing an autonomous trucking system especially for heavy-duty trucks.

The benefits of these systems are primarily being able to transport more freight faster and less expensively, driving day and night without concern for driver fatigue, and incurring lower insurance rates.  There are presently autonomous vehicles on the road but with a driver present; the driver-out demo is scheduled for 2021.

JIM WOOD celebrated his birthday, JOE DANISZEWSKI informed us that as a result of the provided template, 3,342 Car Show raffle tickets have been sold online; JON WANG and BOB SHAFF set the scene for a tribute to the club’s first female president in 1998-99, KATIE DUSENBERRY. KATIE’S son, Bruce Dusenberry highlighted some of her many, many accomplishments: 1968 Tucson Woman of the Year, 1981 President of the Tucson Airport Authority, 1985-95 member of the Board of TEP, 1977-84 served on Pima County Board of Supervisors and was appointed by President Reagan of the Federal Council on Aging. It was also a treat to see KATIE’S video of her presidential year’s memories, one of 30 Past Presidents’ interviews prepared by BOB SHAFF.

The meeting adjourned with a toast from President JEN.
