Rotary President KURTIS DAWSON called the meeting to order at 12 noon indoor from the Tucson Convention Center. The opening of the meeting featured the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag lead by GREG DURNAN and the rendition of “God Bless America”. A heartwarming Inspiration was given by CAMI EVANS.

The lunch featured delicious All-American hamburger and chicken burgers meal with all the trimmings along with some vegetables. As always TCC banquet staff were attentive to the hungry Rotarians.

President KURTIS kicked off the formal part of the meeting by introducing DAN KALM, subbing for KHRIS DODGE, who thanked a wonderful group of guests due to the program featuring UA Football.

Today’s program included the UA Executive Director of Player Relations and External Development and member of our club, RICKY HUNLEY.  RICKY was a former and award winner of UA Football player and a NFL player and coach.  RICKY shared his many memories as a collegiate and NFL player/coach and told us his favorite stories and memories.

A round of good questions took place with RICKY by many members and can been seen on the Rotary Club of Tucson YouTube channel. Make Way for Books selection featured a book called “Goodnight Football” which was signed by RICKY for their library.

The meeting was turned back to President KURTIS to announce today’s Rotarian Birthdays. Today’s birthdays featured CHUCK SAWYER (5/16), TOM MOULTON (5/22), and JO DECHATELET (5/23).  All gave generous donations to Rotary/Rotary Foundation.

ROGER LAFAYE was called upon to introduce our newest member, GREG DURNAN, from MiCamp Solutions.

Rounding out the presentations, CHAR HARRIS presented BOBBY LARSON and his two children with the PAUL HARRIS DESIGNATION.

JON WANG gave a detailed description of one our club's chartered members, Orville McPherson and what the Orville McPherson award represents to our Club.  BILL HARLOW presented a much-deserved Orville McPherson Award to JENN HOFFMAN for all of her support as 2020-2021 President, 2024 CAR Show Co-Chair and so much more.  Congratulations JEN!

Jumping in again was DAN KALM as the acting Sergeant of Arms with the famous Rotary raffle. No big winner today.

Following a great program, super award winners and his total lack of controlling the length of speakers he directed the membership to the announcements and to the platter of the returning cookies.  Once again, I could not resist the oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies.

Our next lunch meeting is June 11 with a Replacement Mixer on May 28th and Events Around Town on June 4th.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:20 pm with a toast by CAMI EVANS, wishing all of us a safe Memorial Day weekend.
