You have read many different Mystery Editors in our Tucsotarian. I write as a proud and very fortunate Rotarian. The joy and warmth of being with those whom I have not seen for over a year cannot be overstated. Being with those I respect and appreciate always makes me a better person and a better Rotarian. Allow me to stay in the first person as I write this M.E.
I am always impressed with the energy and professionalism of our RCoT President, JEN HOFFMAN. In the large conference room of the Tucson Hilton East, JEN settled us in for another “therapeutic” session of experiencing all the good and educational benefits of Rotary and how we can better serve. At my age, I am still learning and enjoying the experience!
Our inimitable DOT KRET gave a memorable tribute to Family Member ROD JILG, the very special spouse of our 30-year Rotarian, NINA TRASOFF. ROD had a strong presence in our community, serving as friend and mentor to many and helping to change lives through his caring and positive attitude. Our community will miss ROD.
There’s some Blues in all of us and the video by Bluesman and Grammy Nominee, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, was our inspiration. We don’t have to be “famous” to use our many talents to make a difference. Music can heal; our talents can heal. Thank you, TOM MOULTON, for using your Southern Arizona Attractions Alliance (SAAA) to bring us Matt and Bekah Rolland. As Director of Programs for Southern Arizona and Cultural Alliance (SAACA), Matt knows the importance to this community of fostering creativity and supporting local artists. Tucson was the “3rd hardest hit city” from the challenges and restrictions of Covid. Matt’s presentation detailed the many programs of SAACA—the Folk Festival, murals which adorn our city, arts for veterans and so many more. “Art Inspires-Culture Unites.” Thank you, Fiddler Matt, for benefitting Tucson with your many talents.
PP CHAR HARRIS presented Paul Harris Fellows to JOHN HARLOW, BILL HARLOW and SHARYN FELTON. Thank you, JOHN, for always being at the Greeting table. Thank you, BILL, for being our RCoT President, 1992-93. Thank you, SHARYN, for your hard work for the TCCS.
PRESIDENT JEN has certainly been on the run during the Covid Crisis, and her faithful running has been very productive for Rotary’s bottom line. Thank you, JEN, for being such an important President at a challenging time! BRUCE JACOBS, thank you for organizing our “break out” hospitality events. PP BOB LOGAN, we’re anxiously awaiting a permanent and centrally located Rotary venue. JOE DANISZEWSKI, you can depend on a few Rotarians for Camp Lawton on the 24th.
Receiving the Blue Badge from Mentoring Committee Chair, WAYNE MEYER, is special. Let us congratulate new member, JENN DELANEY, Operations Manager with The Temp Connection, and thank her sponsor, PP ELLIE PATTERSON, and mentor, IRENE DECKER. JENN, I’m sure, would welcome any questions about her great uncle, Tom Mix, about 4-wheeling in the dunes and about camping with her “supportive husband and two amazing kids.”President JEN’S quoting of Pablo Picasso: “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” JEN’S closing toast: “Here is to all forms of art that help to cleanse our souls.” Loud clinking of glasses and “cheers” capped our Rotary luncheon.
