President JEN HOFFMAN called the meeting to order at 12 noon indoor at the beautiful Hacienda Del Sol with 41 Rotarians attending the weekly meeting. The opening of the meeting featured the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag lead by TOM MOULTON, from Southern Arizona Attractions Alliance and the rendition of “America the Beautiful”.

The inspirational moment for the meeting featured a heartwarming video from CBS television regarding a 5-year autistic child attending a skate park for his birthday with his Mom.  What followed was unbelievable and wonderful for this 5-year old and his mother.  See the video here.

The lunch featured a juicy chicken dish, bone in, with a delicious sauce and some healthy vegetables. As always Hacienda Del Sol banquet staff were attentive to the hungry Rotarians.

President JEN kicked off the formal part of the meeting by thanking all of the virtual audience attending the meeting and introduced two guests, Nicole Lombardo who has submitted her membership application and Bob Blair.

Today’s program featuring Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos was introduced by Rotarian VICKIE JACOBS. Sheriff began his career in 1976 in El Paso, Texas and since moving to Pima County, he has served the Sheriff Department for 32 years. Sheriff Nanos is committed to serving the community as your new sheriff elected since January 2021.

DON served with honor on the Pima County Fairgrounds Board (Southwestern Fair Commission) for many years. KEN retired from the Jewish Community Center where he spent most of his career.

One Sergeant At Arms announcement was made by JEN, to save the date, March 10th for the new replacement mixer.  Location will be a surprise and announced soon. Additional announcements included a request for one more member needed for the AV Committee by DAN KALM.

MARGARET HIGGINS let everyone know that nominations are now open for the 4-Way Test Award and the Orville McPherson whose most recent winner was BOB LOGAN. And finally, CHUCK SAWYER introduced the three finalists for our new meeting venue. Finalists consist of TCC, Hilton East and Westward Look Resort. Each of these venues will host the club at a lunch meeting and once final review is completed, a survey will be taken to help select our future home for our meetings and luncheons.

Our next meeting is March 3 and features JP Jones, Dean College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
