The Rotary Club of Tucson meeting was called to order at 12 noon.  GARY HIRSCH was our pianist; WAYNE WOOD led us in “You’re a Grand Ole Flag” and the pledge; the singing was robust.  Get-well cards were circulated for DICK KINKADE.  BOB SHAFF led us in remembering GORDON SHAW, a Paul Harris fellow, a US Army veteran who reminded us always to turn the you and we into us.  We were inspired by the video “Car Connects Soldier and Son,” a boy who never met his father who was killed in Iraq, who is gifted with his father’s Toyota Celica Convertible that had been sold many years before.

JEANNE FLOWER introduced our guests and visiting Rotarians.  The happy birthday boys were DAVID LOVITT, RICHARD KELEMEN, and BRETT STEIN.

SCOTT VAUGHAN and CHARLOTTE HARRIS introduced these new Paul Harris Fellows: JO DECHATELET, SCOTT BRANDHUBER, and Corporate Honorary member, DICK LUEBKE; GARY HIRSCH did the pinning.

BOBBY LARSON drew the raffle ticket; ROBERT O’BRIEN was the lucky winner.  BOBBY then recognized SCOTT EHRSAM for the People’s Choice Award for Home Senior Care.

BOB LOGAN joked about the length of the last meeting and gave everyone a make-up.  BOB also introduced a new raffle concept and invited us to join the rotary table as MARK IRVIN is declared Man of the Year in Tucson.

DON ROLLINGS made a Blue Badge Presentation to TOM ELITHARP.

BRUCE JACOBS asked for a show of hands for a social event with the Sugar Skulls and the Gaslight Theatre.  DARRELL STEWART challenged us to get fit by using the fitness board online.  JON WANG gave an inspirational rotary history moment; did you know that the boy scout camp on Mt. Lemmon was built by the Rotary Club of Tucson and named for Mr. Lawton, a Rotarian?

JASON GRABOSH, chair of our 2019 Tucson Classics Car Show, announced the results for the 2019 car show.  Checks were presented by JIM MURPHY to Interfaith Community Services for $35,135, Reid Park Zoo for $35,135, and Make Way for Books received the grand amount of $65,271.  JASON then handed the reins to CLIFF BOWMAN, who will be our 2020 chair.  Our snazzy black corvette for the 2020 car show was revealed by MIKE ANDERSON.  MIKE, his wife Susan and son Zak were once again our title sponsors for the 2019 car show. BRUCE JACOBS then presented JASON with a plaque to thank him for chairing the 2019 car show and for all the hard work in making 2019 a huge success!
