A New Rotary Year, A New President
“Much, much more together than alone”.
Incoming PRESIDENT BOBBY LARSON rang the bell; and new member, CHRIS SMITH led us in the Pledge and Song, “My Country Tis of Thee” with the help of KHRIS DODGE on the keys. New member LUIS HERNANDEZ provided an excellent Inspiration.
We observed a moment of silence for Steve Pender, incoming President of the Catalina Club who passed away suddenly.
SAA DRE WILLIAMS introduced our guests and suggested they join our remarkable Rotary Club. She later conducted the raffle, no king of clubs, but a nice payout for JEFF RONSTADT. The pot continues to grow!!!! Get your tickets at the next meeting.
DAN KALM was our Cookie Monster. DAN is the first to receive the new Cookie Monster Tumbler along with our Cookie Monster Medallion. Thanks DAN and State Farm.
A Past President’s badge along with her theme banner for the 25-26 Rotary year, was presented to PP DOT KRET, who enthusiastically talked about the Rotary International Convention in Taiwan. She encouraged members to attend in the future: Barcelona 2027, Minneapolis ’28, Dubai in ’29, and the 125th anniversary of Rotary in Chicago in 20230.
The focus of the program given by PRESIDENT BOBBY was talking about Goal & Objectives for 2026-27. The 3M’s: Marketing, Museum, and Membership. The goal is to get our name out there, with name recognition especially with the Tucson Classics Car Show and he prefers “THE Rotary Club of Tucson”! He went on about the plans during his year for the Children’s Museum of Tucson and a huge part of his year will focus on Membership, particularly corporate members.
His presentation was full of meaningful numbers: $3 million in charitable donations from the Car Show, $76 million raised for the fight against polio, the number of Paul Harris fellows, $900,000 for 470 scholarships etc. etc. He stated, “We can do much, much more together than alone”.
BOBBY talked about 13 service projects after the COVID years that we are now working on, the Fellowships, Events Around Town, Social Mixers as opportunities to get to know other Rotarians better in a smaller environment.
BOBBY signed the book “I Want To Be A Rotarian When I Grow Up” which will be added to our Make Way For Books library.
GARY SCHEER, a 53-year member introduced our new member, his brother-in-law, MARK HART, who retired from AZ Game & Fish. Welcome to our remarkable Club MARK!!!
