The Club Assembly was held at the lovely Westward Look Resort.  Of course, the meeting room is the furthest from the parking lot and required 3000 steps from car to table to attend.

The meeting bell was promptly sounded at 12:00pm by PRESIDENT JACOBS.   BRUCE TUNZE was introduced to lead us in pledge and song. The INSPIRATION was led by JIM WOOD.  JIM WOOD’S focus was on Make Way For Books.  The group was asked to enjoy their lunch.

At 12:15pm, PRESIDENT JACOBS commenced the meeting. Sergeant at Arms, KHRIS DODGE was brought up to introduce our guests and do the raffle.  The raffle appears to be over $2000.00 at present.  The large pot remains in play—only the small pot was tendered.

PRESIDENT BRUCE opened the club assembly—this is not his club—but our club.  The goal is table discussion of issues and direction of the club.

The first point of discussion is the increase in the cost of lunches and venue.  The new contract was received for 2023-2024 for The Tucson Convention Center.  Rio Nuevo is subsidizing our A/V costs once again for the upcoming year.  The cost increase would be approximately $75.00 a quarter or $300.00 a year for the average member.  Do we do the increase, decrease meetings, or find sponsors?

Do we move venues?  Would it save us money?  The various venue costs were presented, and it appears the TCC is the most cost effective.  70 members have joined since moving downtown.  If we could add 40-50 members—we would have a slight increase.  The Five Year Strategic Plan was to grow membership to 300 members.  We’re currently at 215.

The three questions if we go to three meetings a month—Is your club filling your needs, how do we increase member engagement, how do we build greater fellowship?  The meeting was given to table discussions on the following:  venues and number of meetings a month, service projects, and social engagement and increasing or finding new members.  Time was given to the tables for discussion.

Table leaders presented some basic info from the discussion time.

The overall meeting seemed cathartic—many ideas, much engagement and some differences of opinion seemingly based on tenure.  However, there was a general level of heightened engagement and it seemed to really energize the group.
