Sixty Rotarians and several special guests gathered at Madaras Gallery on July 9th to celebrate Ricky Hunley’s induction into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, and the publishing of the second edition of Bob Logan’s book, “Let Your Path Find You.” Bob’s book takes the insights he garnered on the 500-mile Camino de Santiago trek across northern Spain and applies them to life lessons we can all appreciate. Brittany Battle commented that reading the book changed her life. To add to the excitement, right before the event, Sports Illustrated named Ricky Hunley as one of the five best linebackers in the University of Arizona history, and arguably the greatest football player the program has ever seen! Bob signed books and Ricky handed out his signed football trading cards and we all took photos beneath the 14-foot banner the Hall of Fame created for him. Testimonial – Brittany Battle
As a proud member of the Tucson community, I’ve been to my fair share of incredible events, but last night was truly special as I looked around a room full of fellow Rotary Club of Tucson members. We gathered at Diana Madara’s gallery to celebrate two amazing people in our community: Ricky Hunley, being honored for his induction into the Arizona Football Hall of Fame, and Bob Logan, signing his book Let Your Path Find You. Rotary is all about service, connection, and lifting each other up, and that’s exactly what the night felt like!
Ricky’s achievements remind us to strive for excellence in everything we do. His strength, determination, and leadership on and off the field are Legendary. As I joked around with Ricky at the end of the night, I kept thinking that I was really blessed to be in Rotary Club because where else would I have gotten this kind of experience? If you haven't spent time with Ricky yet, I encourage you to add it to your bucket list immediately.
Don't tell Bob Logan this or his head will swell, but I can honestly say that his book, Let Your Path Find You changed my life!!! Before reading it a few years ago, I felt like I was always chasing something – the next goal, the next path, the next checkbox on my never-ending to-do list. But Bob’s words woke me up to a deeper truth: that maybe my path wasn’t something I had to force or build from scratch. Maybe it was already there, patiently waiting for me to pause long enough to notice it. His chapters on fear and visualization are the reasons I had the courage to sing in front of Rotary club this past year! I carried around his book for months. I kept going back to page 39 because it reminded me that "everything I want is on the other side of fear." Bob's words made an imprint on me that cannot be reversed.
My path led me straight to the Rotary Club of Tucson. It led me to this very moment at Madaras Gallery honoring two friends, Ricky and Bob. I sipped a glass of red wine and felt grateful for being there. Bob was signing his books and personalizing messages to fans. Ricky was cracking jokes and making promises about the upcoming football season. Diana's art added beauty and color to the scene. It was heaven.
I left feeling inspired and reminded of why I love being part of Rotary: we surround ourselves with people who make us better, help us laugh, and remind us to keep growing. Most importantly, we make an impact in the community... TOGETHER.
