The hiking committee has completed the cornerstone hike of 2018 in the Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness. The group of 15 Rotarians, spouses and friends of Rotary ventured into the permitted wilderness on Saturday, September 22. Total hiking distance for the day ranged from 8-12 miles appealing to different levels of hiker and creating a very diverse group. Although the flash floods of Labor Day weekend significantly changed the flow of the stream and riparian areas it was a beautiful place to experience and the views, quite breathtaking. The group encountered wild turkeys, big horn sheep, coatamundi and countless varieties of birds. As spectacular as the canyon is, the key to the weekend was the spectacular accommodations, meals and fellowship at Aravaipa Farms Orchard and Inn which is owned/operated by Jill Madden.
