Our first Replacement/Social Mixer of 2021 is the evening of February 10th. This mixer is at El Charro Ventana on the patio, 6910 E. Sunrise (Sunrise/Kolb) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19 Guidelines, the event is limited to 48 people. We will follow all the safety guidelines (masks, hand sanitizer, distancing, and signed waivers will be needed from all those attending who have not previously submitted). Registration has been closed for this event but if you would like to attend, please contact the Rotary office.
Let's have some fun! Please remember, there is NO LUNCH MEETING on February 10th.
It was a beautiful Tucson day for our hybrid meeting. Greetings to all in person and watching virtually.
PRESIDENT JEN HOFFMAN, opened with references to the Ground Hog Day movie. A reminder that every day is another day to do something fantastic in the world.
KURTIS DAWSON, with YMCA, led the pledge and the song. The inspirational video reminded us of how “American Kindness” can create a big impact when many join together.
A warm welcome to Abby Nagbe, who has submitted her membership application.
JIM RONSTADT, Ronstadt Insurance Inc., introduced guest speaker Chuck Bassett. Chuck joined virtually and share his thoughts on Health Policy in Arizona. With over 1,700 bills introduced to the state legislature this session, there are many influences on policy construction including COVID and political partisanship. Encouraging improvement, simplification and affordability changes to health care, Chuck continues to work on these priorities in championing bills that support these themes.
Wishing DAN KALM, from State Farm Insurance, a very Happy Birthday.
Introduction of new family member Rotarian DAN DEVOU by LYNN DEVOU, Metro Medical Billing. Welcome DAN!
Next week is the Social Mixer at El Charro Café Ventana. Remember, there is no lunch meeting next Wednesday. Thank you to all who participated in person and by viewing online.
Concluding with a toast by PRESIDENT JENN, “Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” -James M. Barrie

More details will be coming soon, but for now, please mark this important date on your calendar.
Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centers.
Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops the capacity of peace and development professionals or practitioners to become experienced and effective catalysts for peace. The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses.
Since the program began in 2002, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,400 fellows who now work in more than 115 countries. Many serve as leaders in governments, NGOs, the military, education, law enforcement, and international organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank.
Our fellowships
The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for leaders with work experience in peace and development. Our fellows are committed to community and international service and the pursuit of peace. Each year, The Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 80 for certificate studies at premier universities.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
Leadership Program
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe. Each year, thousands of young people participate in this program. Young people ages 13–30 are sponsored by Rotary Clubs to attend the event run by the club's district committee. Participants are chosen for their leadership potential. Rotary Clubs and the Rotary District cover all expenses for the participants. The format of the event vary from district to district, but commonly take the form of a seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. Rotary clubs and districts select participants and facilitate the event's curriculum.
