We celebrated our new club President JENNIFER HOFFMAN with our first regular club meeting back together. Thanks to Hacienda del Sol for hosting us in a safe, clean environment and having amazing food! President JEN called the meeting to order. President Elect MARK IRVIN lead the pledge and song with an inspiring video rendition of “America the Beautiful” by Ray Charles.
President JEN presented a very surprising and funny inspiration. It was a video news story of a music teacher while teaching through Corona/Covid times and how she got creative. She wrote and performed a song which you should all watch the video with the link here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=music+teacher+screams
Past President BOB recapped in his words, his (forever long) year as club president. He said he missed the breakout sessions at his P.E.T.S. training that would have prepared him for running a club after a heart attack and also during a global pandemic. He shared our club’s successes over the year, especially having fun and going way over set fundraising goals. Past President BOB welcomed our presenter President JENNIFER HOFFMAN. President JEN presented Past President BOB with his Past President’s badge.
President JEN, with her wonderful light presence and humor, delivered her vision and plan for the coming year. Her most important mission she said is membership retention and engagement. She expressed the goal of greater ethnic diversity in our club, so that our club better represents our city. She brought an inspirational membership development program from another club called “The Rule of One”. The Rule of One goes like this, what if each of us brought one new member into the club? President JEN acknowledged the great service and value for our members and potential new members of GARY HIRSCH and the Rotary Business Round Table he hosts. She gave us all the directive, “let’s communicate to Tucson who we are and what we do.” Let’s build the partnership with Rotaract at the U of A and start an Interact Club at JTED. JEN thanked CLIFF BOWMAN for his great leadership of our Car Show this year and for our ticket sales to be well supported! She thanked the Centennial team for all their work to make our 100th year amazing. She asked great questions about how we make this club even better in the strange times we are in. How do we create service projects with social distancing safety? President JEN launched her Sweat for Dollars fundraiser. This is her plan so we can watch her run, share her posts and contribute to $$ to our annual fund with each drop of sweat.
SCOTT VAUGHAN gave the Paul Harris presentation for PAT LENNAN and BILL KOUBA. Congratulations and a huge thank you to these members.
