At our next lunch meeting on 5/15/24, we are looking forward to a wonderful presentation by Brian Watson, presenting on "Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly. Hope you can attend this meeting.
PRESIDENT MARGARET HIGGINS started off the meeting by introducing new member GUY BLUMENTHAL who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and “America the Beautiful” accompanied by KHRIS DODGE on the piano.
Today our inspiration was from JOE D. He inspired us with quotes from golf Legend Arnold Palmer.
A hardly recognizable (thanks to the hair transformation) SAA DAN KALM introduced us to our guests.
Today’s program featured our very own Past President, Past Car Show Chair and Current RCOT Foundation President CLIFF BOWMAN. He walked us through the ins and out of the RCOT Foundation vs Rotary International and everything in between. There is a lot of work that goes into our Club and Foundation. Thank you to all of you who give time and energy to making ours the BEST Rotary Club in the world!!
We celebrated two birthdays today; WALLY JOHNSON who as a 16 year old was top three in tennis and in downhill skiing in his town in CO. And also a happy birthday to JO DECHATELET who is a proud momma to rescue dog Teddy.
NANCY STOCKTON introduced new member GUY BLUMENTHAL. We all look forward to meeting GUY. Welcome to the club!
CHARLOTTE HARRIS presented a Paul Harris to JOHN DUVAL’S three adorable grandchildren; Pictures were displayed of the three and we all were thrilled with the cuteness!
SAA DAN KALM announced the winner of the raffle, (not the 50/50) and the winner was….the one and only BRETT STEIN, YAY!!

PRESIDENT MARGARET shared another “Dad” joke and then introduced us to Cory Pearson who was in attendance today helping out Dorinna… I hope we made a good impression.
The Rotary office will be closed 5/2-5 /8 so do not call or email Dorinna. Hope you have a wonderful vacation!
ALAN ROGERS announced that there is a new fellowship; the Cycling Fellowship, reach out to him or LEE OLITZKY if you are interested.
Happy Jackson for NINA TRASOFF who is the reporter and co-producer for an interesting piece about why Finland is the Happiest Country produced by APM. How cool is that?
And then JOE D was back up to send us off with a toast.
Nominations of nonprofits to receive the Request For Proposal (RFP) to compete to be one of the two Secondary Beneficiaries for the 2025 Tucson Classics Car show are due no later than 5:00 pm on May 7th. Celebrate over 100 years of Rotary Service and Scouting collaboration at Camp Lawton’s Rotary Service Day. In 1919, Architect John Lyman, the first Tucson Rotary Club president, prepared and laid out the plan for the first Scout Camp on Mount Lemmon. The club later provided funds for the first permanent structure in 1922 at what became known as Camp Lawton. The collaboration has continued over the last 100+ years as hundreds of Rotarians and thousands of scouts have enjoyed the same pines and cooler weather. Bring your family and friends for a fun and fulfilling day on the mountain preparing and improving the camp for the coming summer season.
We’ll be tackling a variety of camp improvements, both easy and challenging, with painting, trail improvements, repairs, and other tasks. You’ll also have a chance to try your hand at some scouting skills.
Morning coffee and lunch will be provided. Where: Camp Lawton, 12900 Organization Ridge Road, Mt. Lemmon, AZ 85619 (off Catalina Highway behind the Palisades Visitor Center at milepost 18) When: May 18, 2024; Check in begins at 8.30, projects begin at 9.00. Expect lunch at 12.00, and projects and activities wrapped up no later than 3.00 pm.
Adopt A Road Clean-Up: Saturday, May 25th at 7:15 am. As we did last time, we meet at 7:15 am at the Fiesta Bowling Lanes parking lot. 501 W River Road.
Please bring sunscreen, water, a hat, and gloves. We have safety vests, grabbers, and plastic bags. Our first effort had 14 club members and we filled a dozen bags of roadside trash! Our responsibility is Oracle Rd., from Wetmore to River.

The Club is starting a Bike Fellowship and the first meet up is Saturday June 1st. If you are interested in finding out more about this new fellowship, please contact Alan Rogers or Lee Olitzky.
We are looking for someone to fill a vacancy on the A/V Committee. If you are interested in working the A/V once a month at our weekly meetings, please contact Tom Moulton or Jenn Delaney.
The Club's Change of Administration Party will take place on Saturday, June 29th at the Omni Tucson National Resort. This is when President Margaret will pass the gavel and reigns to President Elect Kurtis Dawson. It is always a very fun evening so mark your calendars to be a part of this special event. More details will follow as we move closer to the date.
