The Rotary Club of Tucson kicked off the holiday season in style at our Mingle and Jingle Holiday Mixer on Wednesday, December 18th at Brother John’s BBQ! Members gathered for an evening filled with festive fun, delicious food, and great company.
The atmosphere was buzzing with holiday cheer as everyone enjoyed some good food and fellowship, and laughter filled the air. The highlight of the evening? The Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest! There were some truly outrageous, over-the-top sweaters that brought smiles and laughter to all. From flashing lights to big elf hats and sparkles galore, members truly embraced the spirit of the season with their creative holiday attire. 🧣🎅🎄
It was a night to remember, filled with festive fun, good vibes, and plenty of holiday cheer. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful event! We hope it helped put you in the holiday spirit!
And just a reminder: there is no lunch meeting on December 25th, but we’re already looking forward to the next chance to gather and continue our work together. Until then, we wish you all a joyful holiday season filled with peace, happiness, and, of course, plenty of ugly sweaters!
Inviting prospective members to Rotary events is a great way to showcase the club's values and service. The Club covering the cost of lunch for first-time attendees is a generous touch that can make newcomers feel welcome and appreciated. It's all about building connections and strengthening our impact in the community. We encourage you to bring your prospective members to a club meeting. They won’t be disappointed.

If a picture is worth a thousand words—the photos of the fine Rotary Bell Ringers Saturday tell a story of making a difference in our community. We staffed 7 locations for 4, 2 hour sifts and one location for 3, 2 hour shifts. In total we had more than 70 volunteers out with Rotary Aprons, Kettles and Bells galore. From Papa Noel (Tom Moulton) to the Grinch, our people dressed up, showed up and made a difference. For the day we collected $3597.87, sponsors—Bruce Richardson, Matt Blair, Dan Kalm, Bobby Larson, Chuck Sawyer, Nancy Gungor and Pat Zumbush each sponsored a kettle for 100.00 and Diana Madaras kicked in 300,00 more bringing our efforts to $4697.87 for the day!! Pat Zumbusch brought us up to $5,000 and Mike Schulte and Angela Moore kicked another $150 for a grand total of $5,150. What a terrific showing!! We had kids, grand kids, and Rotarians galore in our project making a difference. Dan and Karen Kalm at the Dillards even had a donor grab a bell, lay down a beat and sing some Christmas Carols!! All in all it was a tremendous day of laughter, engagement and success!!! Thank you all for your efforts!! Happy Holidays to all!! Additional photos below. ~~~Tom Strasbug and Dan Kalm

On Saturday, January 11th, 2025, members of the Rotary Club of Tucson will once again roll up their sleeves to help keep our city clean and beautiful. The Club will be gathering to participate in the Tucson Clean and Beautiful cleanup effort, focusing on a section of Oracle Road. This ongoing community service project is a great opportunity for members to give back to the community by picking up roadside debris and ensuring our local environment remains clean.
We encourage all RCOT members to join in the effort, especially as the post-holiday season often brings extra debris to our streets. Volunteers will meet early in the morning for a few hours of work, with the chance to make a visible and positive impact on our community.
If you’d like to be part of this important initiative, please join us on January 11th! We look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your dedication to keeping Tucson beautiful. ~~ Lee Olitzky
Saying goodbye to fellow Rotarians is always very hard. As you may know, long time Rotarian and friend, Marianne Freitas, along with her husband and honorary member Chuck Freitas, are moving to Tennessee to be closer to family. We want to wish them the best in their new adventures. May they be filled with lots of fun, laughter, family and friends. On behalf of all of us in the Rotary Club of Tucson, several past TCCS Chairs presented Marianne with a recognition award for her many years of service and commitment to Rotary, the Club and the Car Show. You will be extremely missed Marianne and Chuck!! ~ ~Love your Rotary Family
The Rotary Club of Tucson will be volunteering at the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona on Saturday, January 18th located at 3003 S. Country Club Rd. in Tucson from 9 am-12 pm. We will be boxing food for 100’s if not 1000’s of people less fortunate than us and having a great time together while doing it. Our efforts in our previous volunteer opportunities have helped provide over 140,000 lbs. of boxed food for the elderly and families in and around Pima County. We are looking for 40 people 16 years of age on up to help. Please contact Bobby Larson at 520-730-5271 to register. Thanks gang, and I promise you will leave feeling better than when you arrived! ~~Bobby Larson P.S. Wear comfortable shoes as you’ll be standing a lot but there are a couple of 15 minute breaks.
