Founded prior to statehood, Arizona’s cities and towns are home to nearly 80% of the state’s population and more than 93% of the state’s business activity. Cities and towns are the level of government that provides the greatest number of daily services and are the level of government most accessible and closest to the people. Cities and towns get high marks for managing tax revenues efficiently and openly. Arizona cities and towns provide a high quality of life for residents and operate the infrastructure that enables businesses to locate and thrive. If you turn on the water, flush the toilet, drive to work, have a picnic in a park or ever call 911, you are using services provided by a city or town. Municipalities in Arizona are professionally-managed and (with one exception) are non-partisan. They are the service-delivery level of government that most people take for granted. Find out more about cities and towns in Arizona and learn why residents rate them as the most trusted level of government.

The board of TRVFA was very appreciative of a $5,000 gift directed by Joseph Nevin through the trust he had created during his lifetime. He passed away February 3, 2018 after a lifetime of service to many community organizations in the Tucson area. He was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Rotary Club of Tucson. We are honored to be able to help his legacy of giving continue to make a difference through our organization.
We had a beautiful day on Saturday, November 17 for a hike of Phoneline Trail in Sabino Canyon. The group of eight included Aimee Graves and husband Mike, President Chuck Sawyer, Mike Schulte, Dave White, Bruce and Martha Richardson. Friend and fellow Rotarian, Jeff Heath, also joined us for the hike and we are looking forward to his return to active membership in the near future. The hike was just over 10 miles with 1,433 in elevation gain and spectacular November temperatures! The next scheduled hike is Sunday, December 16th and more information will follow.
Last week's bulletin stated Sid Hirsh was resigning. After some thought, Sid has decided he didn't want to give up Rotary and has opted to go on Leave of Absence instead. Welcome back Sid!
