Saturday the 20th was another day to remember for The Rotary Club of Tucson. The 12th Annual Tucson Classics Car Show did not disappoint. Our fellow Rotarians turned out in full force to support what has become known as “The Best” Car Show in Southern AZ according to our Car registrants.
The sun was out and the anticipated wind was held at bay. We had 420 cars scheduled for the field selling out earlier than any prior year. The car owners and our guests that came we believe totaled around 15,000 strong. Numerous Rotarians have commented that this was the smoothest show yet. Those with radios checked several times to make sure it was on because they have been used to them “blowing up” between the critical ours of 7:30-10:00 which was not the case this year.
Although it will be sometime before we have the numbers to present to the group, we know that the number will be spelled with SUCCESS. Success from all that sold tickets personally or during Events. Success from Mike Anderson and so many fellow Rotarians who supported our efforts as major sponsors of this show. Success from all of you that worked the Event and were incredible ambassadors to all our guests who came.
Everyone should be proud of the job we accomplished and the money we raised to support our local charities. It is because of all of you that this show was a TERRIFIC TWELFTH.
District 5500 is celebrating World Polio Day on November 21 by reaching out to fellow Rotarians, family members and friends to raise awareness, funds and support to end polio, a vaccine preventable disease that still threatens children in parts of the world today by offering an opportunity to attend Man In Black, the Music of Johnny Cash, with proceeds going to PolioPlus. Rotary is an international community that brings together leaders who step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, locally and globally. The eradication of polio is one of our longest standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good.
Let’s enjoy friendship and fellowship on November 21 and listen to some darn good music while supporting our fight against polio. We’re so close. Buy your tickets now!
