SALC: Better Public Policy Through Collaboration
Ted’s presentation will focus on the Southern Arizona Leadership Council’s role in bringing together leadership and resources to improve our region’s economic environment and quality of life.  He will describe the areas of SALC’s focus and some of the current issues that they believe need to be addressed to improve our region’s opportunity to grow and prosper.

Ted Maxwell ~ Biography

Ted Maxwell joined the Southern Arizona Leadership Council (SALC) in April 2013. He assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2018.  The nearly 140 CEOs, business and community leaders of SALC are actively involved in creating a vibrant future for the Tucson region and state of Arizona by engaging the critical issues of education, infrastructure, healthcare, governance as well as economic growth and innovation.

Ted’s extensive leadership and command experience have served him well in his role at SALC.  During his 34 years of military experience, Ted established himself as a leader capable of motivating and managing a large diverse workforce.  Ted retired as a Major General in 2018.  His final military position was as the Commander of the Arizona Air National Guard.  In that role he oversaw and was responsible for over 2700 Airmen and the operations of units flying the F-16, the KC-135 and the MQ-9 aircraft supporting the Air Force at home and abroad.  Ted has extensive experience working with Congress, with
government officials and with foreign dignitaries. He has over 4600 flying hours predominately in the F-16.

Ted was a 1984 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy earning a Bachelor’s of Science.  He received his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 2014. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Town Hall, the Tucson Hispanic Chamber, the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl and as the Board President for Tucson Values Teachers.
Replacement Social Mixer ~ A Fun Evening
Our Replacement Social Mixer held Poolside at the Radisson Suites was really a fun and relaxing evening after the hard work of all at the Car Show.  It was a great way to unwind with fellow Rotarians and guests . . .

World Polio Day Event ~ 11/21/18
District 5500 is celebrating World Polio Day on November 21 by reaching out to fellow Rotarians, family members and friends to raise awareness, funds and support to end polio, a vaccine preventable disease that still threatens children in parts of the world today by offering an opportunity to attend Man In Black, the Music of Johnny Cash, with proceeds going to PolioPlus. Rotary is an international community that brings together leaders who step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, locally and globally. The eradication of polio is one of our longest standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good.

Let’s enjoy friendship and fellowship on November 21 and listen to some darn good music while supporting our fight against polio. We’re so close. Buy your tickets now!

Interactors at Work
At the club meeting of October 17, 2018, the Interact students informed the club they were raising funds to buy candy for the TMC Children’s Clinic Halloween celebration.  Through the club members generosity, the students raised over $350.  Needless to say the children had a very successful Halloween.

Pictures are of the Interact Students buying and delivering the candy.
