PRESIDENT MARK IRVIN rang the bell to start the meeting and welcomed new member JON HARNED to lead us in the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and the "Star Spangled Banner”. SAA KHRIS DODGE accompanied on the keys.
PRESIDENT MARK informed us of ERNIE MINCHELLA’S surgery on Monday. Hope it’s a speedy recovery ERNIE. MARK then referred us to the back table of all the items that will be placed in our 100 Year Time Capsule to be buried at Hotel Congress.
Our Inspiration was a cool video put together by none other than RICK ROSE of Film Creations. We watched to the music of Prince and his hit song “Little Red Corvette”. You guessed it, a video of our 2021 Corvette Stingray and the presentation of a banner of appreciation to Honorary Member ROB DRAPER and O’Rielly Chevrolet.
ROB DRAPER then presented the “ post it note” which stated O’Rielly Chevrolet will be donating the cost of the car to JTED. Wow!!!
KHRIS DODGE introduced our guests and PRESIDENT MARK introduced our very special future leaders, the 40 Under 40 recipients. He also introduced the Man and Woman of the Year 40 Under 40, Adam Begody and Bethany Bruzzi along with Rob Elias Executive Director/CEO from the Hispanic Chamber, who shared a few words and thanked the club for having them.
Our meeting was sponsored by HSL Properties and Honorary Member BERT LOPEZ was handed the mic and said a few words. HSL Properties, we thank you for sponsoring this meeting and were also presented with an appreciation banner.
A video introduction of our speaker today of Kasey Hill from Greater Tucson Leadership. Kasey introduced her colleague, Justin Lukasewicz, celebrating his one year anniversary with the GTL.
Greater Tucson Leadership’s mission is to inspire and develop and promote leadership that impacts the greater Tucson region. Founded by the Tucson Metro Chamber in the early 80s, they are a part of a network of 800 programs connecting these Leaders. They have over 1,000 alumni from these leadership programs in the 42 year history. Some of the alumni were in the room and Kasey thanked them for all their contributions they have made and the impact they have had on the Tucson Community. These leadership programs are open to Freshman, Sophomore, Juniors and Seniors. GTL develops the curriculum and partners with the schools and are currently in the Tanque Verde School District. Thank you Greater Tucson Leadership for working with our youth to help mold them into our future community leaders.
PRESIDENT MARK presented a book for Kasey to sign “Dream You’ll Be” which will go in our Make Way for Books Library.
PRESIDENT MARK introduced Honorary Member LEA MARQUEZ PETERSON, who is celebrating her birthday today. LEA is proud to be an Honorary Member of this club. She thanked everyone for celebrating her birthday today. Happy Birthday Lea!
SAA KHRIS DODGE held the 25/50/25 Raffle which is worth around $2,600. The winner of the raffle was TOM ELITHARP but the King of Club was not drawn. Get your tickets next week there are only 17 cards left and should be over $2,700!
PRESIDENT MARK shared a “Irv’s Fly-Fishing Fund” slide honoring ERNIE MINCHELLA in his younger days back in 1972. It weighed in at 115 pounds.
SAVE THE DATE – June 18th will be our change of administration party. It’s a little early due to MARK’S fishing habit that he just can’t break. MIKE SAGARA announced the Blood Drive taking place on February 16th during our lunch meeting. There is such a need for blood, and an urgent request for blood has been posted. Go to Redcross.org to register for our blood drive. MARK announced the Sweetheart Mixer on 2/9 at the Hotel Congress, attendance is limited to 75.
BOBBY LARSON presented a blue badge to TOM SCOTT. He has fulfilled all the requirements to obtain his badge and he’s worked on the car show and is part of the Golf Committee. He was a member of the Casas Adobes Rotary Club for over 25 years. Congratulations TOM!
PRESIDENT MARK congratulated the 40 Under 40, happy birthday to Lea, thanked HSL for sponsoring the meeting. Next week’s meeting is the Car Show Results at the Westward Look. He offered a toast to the successful leaders. We are adjourned and we were on our way.
