Diagnostics: The Key to the Beginning, Middle & End of the Pandemic
BY VIRTUAL MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 6/17/2020 - LINK WILL BE POSTED AS SOON AS AVAILABLE.

Diagnostics have never been more important or visible on the world stage as they are today in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Diagnostic researchers, developers, and manufacturers are working to make the most accurate tests available to everyone who wants or needs one.

In this presentation, you will learn how COVID diagnostics have been developed and how they should be used to fight the disease through timely diagnosis and monitoring. This is a critical moment to expand our knowledge and dispel any myths about COVID-19 as we begin to re-open our society.

Who was your Sponsor?
Sponsor: Ellie Patterson

Where were you born?  Where did you grow up?
I was born in Sierra Vista, AZ. My father was an Army Intelligence Officer so, I spent a lot of time transferring between New Jersey and Arizona as a young child. By the time I was a teenager, my father left the Army, settled into Civil Service work and we planted roots in Sierra Vista.

Tell us about your career (s).
I've worked in many industries from real estate to taxes in my younger years. When I first moved to Tucson, I worked as a temp for many years at various companies; a semi-conductor company in purchasing to a publishing company in the accounting and fulfillment departments. I found my groove while volunteering and working at a non-profit for many years and wore many hats with The Fox Tucson Theatre/Foundation to where I am now; with The Temp Connection where I am Operations Manager.

How can your experiences help other club members?
I hold a strong sense of service both in my heart and in my upbringing. I believe in giving back, equality, and always treating others with respect. I look at the positive side of things and always look for a fair resolution.

What accomplishment (s) are you most proud of?
My family, I have two amazing kids that are the loves of my life and my amazingly supportive husband.

I enjoy camping with my family and friends, spontaneous weekend 4-wheeling treks, visiting the beach any chance I get, and spending time riding ATV's in the Dunes.

What would surprise people to know abut you?
I'm related to a silent movie star; Tom Mix is my Great Uncle. Also, my grandfather was a Shriner's Clown up until the day he passed at 87.

What is the best part of Rotary...for YOU?
Being a Rotarian is an honor; the organization makes a huge impact not only within the community its located but worldwide; bettering remote villages in other countries to eradicating the Polio disease. Rotary unites all people and its members make this world a better place.
