Next Virtual Meeting ~ First Week of June
Our next virtual meeting will be the first week of June and more details will follow.  In the meantime, if you haven't watched our past virtual meetings, please view anytime through our YouTube Channel.

We want to wish all of you a wonderful and safe Memorial Day!
Mystery Editor ~ 5/20/20
Today’s meeting began with a status report on the Club by President BOB. This is RCOT’s 7th virtual meeting. The plan is to do virtual meetings at least through May for now.  The Club is meeting with the Doubletree about future meetings/formats as well as Hacienda del Sol to see about a potential change of Administration event scheduled for the end of June.  Keep tuned in to hear about future meetings and special events. President BOB mentioned a survey going out to members to get feedback on how members feel about future gatherings.  Please remember past virtual meetings and other information is found on the RCOT website and the RCOT YouTube channel.  The pledge, song, and inspiration are excellent videos you are encouraged to view and these can also be found on our YouTube channel.

President BOB thanked and acknowledged the following annual sponsors of RCOT.   They include, ERNIE “Roma” MINCHELLA – Long Realty, MATT “Kitchen Sink” NANCE – Arizona Kitchen and Design, PAT “The Market Will Recover” RASKOB – Raskob Kambourian Financial Advisors, WOCKY “The Perfect House” REDSAR, and JEFF “I Have the Coverage” RONSTADT – Ronstadt Insurance. A huge thank you to our sponsors!

ELLEN WHEELER introduced the guests for this meeting which included John Christie, President of the St. Andrews Scotland and Fernando Zazueta, President Elect of San Jose.

Our Keynote speaker was Patrick Galvin, President and CEO of the Galvanizing Group in Portland, Oregon.  Patrick is also a member of the Rotary Club of Portland and he gave a Ted talk titled, "Should Self-Interest Motivate Service?"  Patrick talked about the health (mental, physical and emotional) benefits of people who participate in service.  It was a wonderful message to all Rotarians. Following his presentation, a Zoom discussion took place with several club members asking Patrick questions.  It was a very informative segment of the presentation.

This week’s birthdays included, PAT RASKOB, TOM MOULTON, and SCOTT VAUGHAN.  We want to wish you all a very happy and healthy birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Past President CHUCK SAWYER conducted a new member introduction to ANN MARSH.  Welcome ANN to the club, even if it is from a distance...

ROB LAMASTER had a proud father Happy Jackson moment.  He congratulated his daughter, Madison, who just completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree at Texas Tech University Health Science Center.  He welcomed Madison into the working world and he is looking forward to when she starts repaying for this degree.  Congratulations Madison!

CHARLOTTE “Centennial Moment” HARRIS shared the wonderful history of the Lovitt Family’s involvement in Rotary. DAVID LOVITT and family have 137 years of Rotary Service. WOW, congratulations DAVID and thank you for all the Rotary contributions of the Lovitt family throughout these many years of service.

Wed Zoom Meeting #3 -- "Hump Day" Happy Hour with Mark Irvin

(every week-Wednesday)

I have set my gatherings up where folks will initially go into a waiting room and I will let them in.   Also, I have set it up where only those with computer video are able to join in (no phones).  Finally, all microphones are set to mute when they initially join.  As host I will remind guests to unmute when needed but to keep the mute on when they are not talking.

As discussed, the Zoom app is not needed but it sure makes it easier for everyone and is free.  Anyway, here are my weekly meeting details.

New Member Spotlight ~ Khris Dodge

      MEET KHRIS DODGE!!

Who was your Sponsor?
Sponsor: Bob Logan / Mentor: Jim Murphy

Where were you born?  Where did you grow up?
I was born in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. I spent the first 10 years of my life in the rural mountains and farmlands of PA. I moved to Phoenix when I was 10 and stayed there through high school. I came to Tucson for college, fell in love with this town, and have lived here ever since.

Where did you go to school?  Your Alma Mater?
I went to High School in Phoenix, at MoonValley HS, which is the same high school as former UA standout Richard Jefferson. I played basketball in high school, but obviously wasn't as good as RJ. I have a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree from the U of A in Music Performance.

What are your hobbies...your favorite things to do?
Aside from music, which is my job, my favorite thing to do is to hike. I especially love hiking to the tops of mountains, but any day on the trail is a good day. I also enjoy reading, painting, and futzing around with household building projects.

What has been your best "Rotary Moment"?
Haven't been here long enough yet to adequately answer this one.

Please take some time to introduce yourself to KHRIS DODGE... WELCOME KHRIS!!
