Mystery Editor ~ 5/22/24
PRESIDENT ELECT KURTIS DAWSON stepped in for PRESIDENT MARGARET HIGGINS today. He started off the meeting by introducing new member MICHELLE WARD who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and “GOD BLESS AMERICA” accompanied by KHRIS DODGE on the piano.

We shared a moment of silence for CHRIS KIM and the passing of his father.

Today our Inspiration was from MITCH PISIK. He talked about how being a Rotarian was one of the best choices we could have made.

MATT BLAIR stepped in as SAA today and introduced us to our guests.

PAT ZUMBUSCH introduced today’s program featuring Frank Knott, CEO of Mosaic Quarter. The Mosaic Quarter is a redevelopment of the Kino Sports Complex. It will feature multiple athletic facilities; MQ Ice Plex with 3 ice rinks (New home to the UA Ice Cats), basketball/volleyball courts, pickleball courts and more along with 14 restaurants and 3 hotels and some public performance pavilions. This will be a true community and family destination as well as a national sports tournament venue. This will be truly an awesome addition to our community.

We celebrated three birthdays today; TOM MOULTON (5/22) who almost starred as Heman back in the day, JAN GREEN (5/25), perhaps named after musician Jan Garber, AND SCOTT VAUGHAN (5/27) who worked as VP GM at TV Network affiliates and he was also fired from the same three. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

GEORGE LARSEN introduced new member MICHELLE WARD and JONI CONDIT introduced AMANDA WOOD, a former member who decided to join us again! Welcome (back) to the club!

CHUCK SAWYER presented ELIJAH NDOYE his blue badge, congratulations!

Stand in SAA MATT BLAIR announced the winner of the raffle, (not the 50/50) and the winner was I couldn’t see who won, YAY!!

PE KURTIS was in the mood to fine some folks today. He started with CHRIS EDWARDS who was taking selfies during the Pledge of Allegiance a few meetings ago, GASP! And somehow PE KURTIS ended up with a rake on stage that turned out to be ROGER HARWELL’S that BILL CONDIT accidentally made off with…. JONI CONDIT stepped up and covered for both ROGER and BILL…. Leave it to JONI, always saving the day.

Now onto announcements:
PE KURTIS channeled his inner PRESIDENT MARGARET and had a blind attempt at a joke…. None of us saw it coming.

June 29th is the Change of Administration Party, you will be able to register soon. ALAN ROGERS announced that there is a mixer next week in lieu of a meeting at The Eddy Hotel off of River and Campbell. You will need to register. This social will focus on meeting all our new members.  He also mentioned the Cycling Fellowship will be having a ride on Sat. 6/1 meet at St. Phillips Plaza 8am.

JEANNE ZETAH introduced us to our Amazing Rotaract President. They are doing wonderful things in the community. Also, she announced to pick up your car show tickets at the table in the back of the room.

And then MITCH PISIK sent us off with a toast.

Camp Lawton Cleanup ~ A Success
During the recent Camp Lawton cleanup, 21 RCOT members dedicated 252 hours of hard work valued at $4,032, making substantial improvements and beautifying the campgrounds. Teams rotated through various tasks including painting buildings, maintaining trails, and improving safety to our scout shelters including the installation of rubber safety guards to prevent head injuries. A platform to ensure a safer environment was also installed at the shooting sports range. These efforts, just a few examples of the dedication displayed, have greatly contributed to supporting and enhancing the scouting experience. Thank you to everyone for your incredible commitment and willingness to support scouting. From Shannon Roberts

And from the RCOT members—they provided a GREAT lunch ending with the scouts cooking us three different kinds of cobbler in a Dutch oven.
