Our next event is a Replacement/Mixer on Wednesday, October 29th at The District, 3025 North Campbell Avenue Suite 121 from 5:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. Good food and No Host Bar. This event will replace our lunch meeting on Wednesday, October 29th. We are looking forward to seeing all our members and guests at The District on the 29th for this fun evening of fellowship! You will need to register under "Upcoming Events" on the home page of our website. Be sure to register your guests ($35 Guest Fee will be billed to your account).
At our next weekly lunch meeting on November 5, 2025, we will have an exciting program, "Tucson Botanical Gardens" the CEO of the Tucson Botanical Gardens, Michele Conklin will be our speaker. We kicked off the meeting with JON & Noreen WANG celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! Married in December 1975 — congratulations to this dynamic duo. They led us in the Pledge of Allegiance then the room filled with voices for a rousing rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
JOE DANISZEWSKI inspired us with some of our speakers’ most memorable quotes — a perfect way to reflect on wisdom from the best of the best.
SAA DAN KALM greeted a record-breaking 61 guests! Wow! The room was buzzing as we welcomed visiting Rotarians and virtual attendees.

While PAT ZUMBUSCH was away on business, Tim Fleshman stepped in from Wellspring Financial Partners. A proud UofA supporter, Tim reminded us that financial planning can be as thrilling as Wildcat basketball (almost!). BOB LOGAN welcomed our keynote speaker in his normal humorous way— Coach Tommy Lloyd, head coach of the University of Arizona Men’s Basketball Team!
Coach Lloyd captivated the audience with his authenticity and passion. He shared that when first offered the position of head coach, he looked at himself in the mirror and said, “If you don’t do this, you don’t believe in yourself.” That powerful reflection became the catalyst for his decision to take the leap — and what a leap it’s been!
Coach Lloyd expressed how thrilled he is to be in Tucson, emphasizing how much he loves our close-knit, caring community. When asked about facing tough teams, he replied confidently, “I am not going to shy away from big opportunities.” His words were met with applause and pride from everyone in the room. It’s clear that Coach Lloyd is a players’ coach — he spoke with heartfelt sincerity about how much he cares for each of his athletes, both on and off the court.
We are truly fortunate to have such a genuine, driven, and community-minded leader guiding our beloved Arizona Wildcats!
After his talk, Coach Lloyd graciously signed the book “My First Book of Basketball.” To be donated to Make Way for Books, continuing our Club’s mission to foster literacy for Tucson’s children

This casual neighborhood restaurant and bar offers a warm, welcoming vibe, great food, and plenty of drinks to enjoy while catching up with friends and meeting fellow members. It’s the perfect chance to strengthen connections, welcome new faces, and share what Rotary is all about in a relaxed setting. The Rotary Club of Tucson Cycling Fellowship will start up once again. The dates are November 8th and November 15th. The Ride starts 8 AM at the St Philips Plaza Campbell and River on the South side near the REN coffee shop. We will ride the loop going West. The ride is for all riders of any ability and the pace and distance is entirely up to the rider. This ride is meant to be a fun training ride in preparation for the El Tour de Tucson. Riders should wear Rotary jerseys if possible.
Great news, Rotarians! Our next Tucson Clean and Beautiful Adopt-A-Road event is coming up on Sunday, November 16th. We’ll meet at 8:15 AM at the former Fiesta Lanes (now Pinz), located at 501 W. River Rd.
Be sure to wear a hat, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and gloves. We’ll provide bags, grabbers, and safety vests. Bring your Rotary spirit and a little morning energy — together we’ll help keep Tucson looking great!
Please note that the November 9th hike will be on a Sunday, to accommodate, the numerous events & activities already scheduled leading into the Thanksgiving holiday. For this adventure, we will be giving “thanks” for one of the beautiful trails on the front of the Catalina range with a return visit to Pima Canyon after a few years, not on our schedule. Beginning from the Iris O. Dewhirst Trailhead the hike ascends from the Foothills neighborhood quickly leaving metropolitan Tucson behind as we will ascend the south face of Pusch ridge following the usually dry streambed until we reach the first dam. This hike is moderate in difficulty with a total distance of just over 6 miles and 800 vertical feet. Hike time will be advised as we get closer to the date and with the trailhead being in-town, offering sufficient parking, We will meet at the Iris O. Dewhirst Trailhead.
The Rotary Club of Tucson members will participate in the El Tour de Tucson on Saturday, November 22, 2025, raising funds for Rotary International’s PolioPlus program. This premier cycling event features routes from 32 to 102 miles, all starting and finishing at the Tucson Convention Center.
Local Rotarians will ride as part of the "Ride to End Polio" team. Donations to support these riders are encouraged.
Community members can support the effort by donating to riders or joining the ride. Every dollar helps bring the world closer to being polio-free.
