PRESIDENT BOBBY LARSON rang the bell to kick off another lively Tuesday at the TCC, welcoming all. MICHELLE SPETNAGEL led the Pledge and a rousing rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner," with KHRIS DODGE once again working his magic on the piano, thank goodness KHRIS got the memo about which song we would sing. GORDY SIEWERT delivered this week's Inspirational Moment encouraging us to put ourselves in the shoes of a saguaro, and SAA DRE WILLIAMS welcomed our guests, virtual guests and visiting Rotarians.

BOBBY introduced this week's COOKIE MONSTER, JENN DELANEY, sponsored by Kuumba Made — sweet treats for a sweet cause!

JENNIFER SPRUNG, Assistant District Governor of the Rotary Club of Tucson Verde, introduced EMMA CARRILLO, District Governor for District 5500, for a lively "District 5500 Update”. DG EMMA walked us through her impressive past as an elementary school teacher and principal who was pulled out of retirement three times because she was amazing at her job. Once her retirement actually took (after 16 years) someone asked her, what are you going to do now, have you ever thought of Rotary? And, that is how her life and commitment in Rotary began. Service was always a part of her life growing up and so when asked to serve she always says “YES”! How lucky we are in District 5500 to have someone like her at the helm. She is also one heck of a wordsmith as she recited a poem she wrote about The Rotary Club of Tucson, the BEST ROTARY CLUB IN THE WORLD.  DG EMMA also signed the book, "Making a Difference," which will join the Make Way for Books library to support children's literacy across Tucson.

NANCY BEVENS presented a Blue Badge to ELENA HA, congratulations.

PRESIDENT BOBBY presented a certificate and pin to Corporate Designated Member JORDAN BENJAMIN of Done Rite Services, YAY!

Birthday cheers rang out for DAVE WHITE, DIANA CANNON, and JIM RONSTADT.

MARK IRVIN introduced new member TIM MEDCOFF, an attorney ready to dive into Rotary life. Welcome to the club TIM!

DRE drew the winning raffle ticket, congrats JORDAN BENJAMIN. The big pot will carry forward to our next meeting!

Announcements flew fast: there is a Replacement/Social Mixer on 7/29 at Hacienda del Sol. Be sure to register by this Friday at noon.

We had some Red Badge Selfies, get in on the fun.

JEANNE ZETAH and her husband Pete got in The Family Fun Club with her new grandson Winslow and Basil.

We will have 15 visiting Rotarians from Romania on 9/23.

JOE DANISZEWSKI talked about an upcoming service project at Camp Lawton, more info to come.

DAN KALM talked about membership and ways to get involved, if you are new, just ask your mentor or sponsor.

The one and only AMAZING JEANNE ZETAH shared that the Car Show ticket count which climbed to 4,549 sold toward our 30,000 goal, let’s get out there and SELL, SELL SELL!

LUIS HERNANDEZ our Ride to End Polio Champ talked about a recent and upcoming training rides.

PRES BOBBY closed with a reminder to donate to our UA and Pima CC Scholars, and GORDY led the toast to end another great meeting reminding us not to get too prickly. Cheers to service, fun, and Rotary spirit!

Events Around Town - August 12

Events Around Town (EAT) — Wednesday, August 12 🍽️(No Lunch Meeting)

Trade the usual routine for something a little more flavorful—Events Around Town (EAT) is back on Wednesday, August 12! Instead of our regular lunch meeting, Rotarians will head out across town from 12:00–1:30 p.m. to gather in smaller groups for lunch, conversation, and connection.

EAT is your chance to mix it up—meet someone new, catch up with familiar faces, and enjoy a relaxed midday break in a more personal setting. Whether you’re there for the food, the fellowship, or a bit of both, there’s always something special about these around-town gatherings.

Keep an eye out for location details and sign-up information coming soon. Be sure to reserve your spot early—these tables tend to fill up fast!

If you would like to host an event, contact the Rotary office.

No podium, no program—just good company and great conversation. See you around town on August 12!
