Fellow Rotarians, the time is here! Get ready for an Epic 18th annual Tucson Classics Car Show. It is our major club service project and fundraising event. We need all hands-on deck; to sell tickets and volunteer so we can exceed our fundraising goal and exceed our beneficiaries’ expectations. PIMASTART, Sister Jose’s Women’s Center and Wright Flight are counting on RCOT to make the difference for their organizations.
We will cover the “Why” of the Tucson Classics Car Show, who helped make it happen and let you all know how and where you can still help.
There will also be a special presentation you won’t want to miss.
It is with great pride that I serve as the president of our club, the best club! It is hard to believe that one quarter of the Rotary year has already passed us by, but I am excited to see all that we have already accomplished and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
I would like to take a moment to recognize the incredible work that our program committee has done in bringing a diverse range of engaging programs to our meetings. From speakers on important community issues to informative presentations on international service projects, each program has been thoughtfully curated to inspire and educate our members. For more information on upcoming programs, be sure to visit tucsonrotary.org.
Additionally, I encourage all members to participate in our Second Wednesday events around town. These monthly lunches bring members together in small groups at various restaurants across Tucson, providing a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and networking. It is a great way to connect with fellow Rotarians outside of our regular meetings and build lasting relationships within our club. Thank you to those members who have coordinated the reservations at local restaurants. If you want to host one, please let Dorinna know. Our next second Wednesday lunch will be on October 9th.
As we prepare for the Tucson Classics Car Show, I want to emphasize the importance of this event. Not only does the car show enable us to support our beneficiaries, but it also brings us together as a club as we volunteer and work towards a common goal. Thank you so much for all of you that make the show so incredible every single year. I encourage you to sign up to volunteer if you haven’t already, keep selling tickets, maybe find a sponsor, and help make this year's car show a success.
Finally, I urge you to get engaged in our club through our fellowships, service projects, and, of course, our Wednesday meetings. Your involvement and dedication are what make our club truly special, and I look forward to seeing all that we can accomplish together in the coming months. Again, go to the Club website and check the calendar for all the information on fellowships and upcoming service projects.

PRESIDENT KURTIS, the esteemed President who brought back cookies, called the meeting to order and introduced new member, CAMI EVANS, who led the Pledge and song, “God Bless America” with GARY HIRSCH accompanying on the piano.
JOE DANISZEWSKI offered the Inspiration with regards to our Rotary’s mission to end Polio worldwide. For 35 Years Rotary has pushed to eradicate Polio off the face of this earth. We are 99.99% there but it’s still here. We need to keep going and we will end Polio. MATT BLAIR auctioned off a birthday desert and GARY OLSEN had the high bid. GARY ended up winning two deserts for his money.
BRITTANY BATTLE, with a lovely, decorated cowboy hat, introduced our guests.
MICHAEL GUYMON introduced our program but not before telling us about his experience in Improv. He was on the “Game Show Show,” it’s like Adult Charades, and beat Supervisor Rex Scott. Then, Justin Lukasewicz, from the Tucson Improv Movement, took the stage and introduced the other performers. The Tucson Improv Movement presented four different games and brought in members from the audience:
“Try That on for Size” had NANCY STOCKTON and MICHAEL GUYMON included.
“New Choice” was a game that had participants changing what they were doing often.
“Four Corners” had PRESIDENT KURTIS, The Best Dancer at Tucson High, taking part
“Game of Columns” included ADAM ENGLISH and LEA MARQUEZ PETERSON as participants.
All of the professional actors did great and most of the Rotarians did well too. Tucson Improv Movements has shows at 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The performers signed the book “Princess Naomi Helps a Unicorn.”
Birthdays were next. JOE DANISZEWSKI was celebrating his birthday. Did you know he was in the first ever water-skiing TV Show? TOM MCKINNEY must have received a better offer and wasn’t present to celebrate his birthday. PRESIDENT KURTIS was present though and offered pictures showing how he used to be kind of cute. He had the ladies swooning.
JEN HOFFMAN introduced our newest member CAMI EVANS. CAMI was a bridesmaid in JENN and SEAN’s Wedding. CAMI has worked with Pima County for about 20 years, serving the Sheriff’s Department for 15 years and now working for Supervisor Rex Scott, who lost to MICHAEL GUYMON in charades.
JON WANG introduced our newest Paul Harris members who were both being honored with their +3 Award. BRUCE JACOBS and CONRAD PLIMPTON both graciously accepted their new pins. Thanks guys!
JEANNE ZETAH introduced Exchange Student, Luca Diamente. Luca went to Japan for his exchange and had a great time learning about the culture as well as enjoying some of his favorite activities: surfing, climbing and great, fluffy powder snowboarding.
BRITTANY BATTLE was back and with a different hat. New member CLIFF WOOD won $77 in the raffle but not the jackpot.
PRESIDENT KURTIS reminded us that events/projects are on the website as well as printed on the tables. He let us know that if we want to host a lunch on the second week of the month (you don’t have to pay for all) to let Dorinna know. It’s a great way to get to know our fellow Rotarians. He had no Red Badge Selfies to show but did show some images of where Wilbur had been. JEN HOFFMAN reminded us to sign up for field preparation at the Gregory School, October 5th, October 12th and October 18th. NANCY BEVENS let us know that there is still time to order Rotary Club of Tucson branded shirts. Let her know if you want one.

Good News!Our ticket sales hit 11,128 on Sunday which is an increase from 34% to 39.5% of our goal in the last week.Thanks to many of you who have increased your online purchases or brought in money last Wednesday. This does not count tickets sold at Run to the Pines this weekend.
With less than 3 weeks to sell tickets to the event, here are some things to note:
Oct 2 is the deadline to buy tickets to donate to Davis Monthan Air Force Base military families.
Please bring in ticket money to meetings on Oct. 2 and 16 so we can see how we’re progressing. You can wait to bring in unsold tickets until Oct. 16 or at the Car Show Command Center.
If you’d like to sell online using the email template which sends a request to your friends and family, you can go to https://tucsonclassicscarshow.com/email and follow the steps listed there.
If you’d like to pay for your tickets online, you can go to https://tucsonclassicscarshow.comand, after clicking that you’re a Rotarian, you can click on the option to “Pay for Tickets You Got from the Club” This works if you’re giving away tickets or plan to turn in your own ticket stubs. OR you can choose AUTO-ENTRY where the system auto-entries stubs for you.
Use social media by Sharing, Commenting and Liking some great posts from TCCS Facebook, etc.
An Online ticket credit report will be coming out today to all who have sold or said they’d sell online.
When you reach out to friends, neighbors, acquaintances, business associates, and family, let them know that the $10 ticket gets people into a fantastic show AND they get a chance to win a fabulous C-7 Corvette Convertible or one of 4 other great prizes. Kids under 18 get in free to this fun family activity.
You’ll feel great when you’ve sold or bought the tickets because you’ll be benefiting 3 deserving beneficiaries our club chose: Pima Community College Workforce Center, Sister Jose Women’s Center and Wright Flight.

The Car Show Friday Night Dinner will take place at the Gregory School, 3231 N. Craycroft, start time is 5:00 p.m. Cost Per Person is $20 (includes two drink tickets, cash bar after) will be billed to your account. Registration is on the Website under “Upcoming Events”. Lee Olitzky and I are planning the next Rotary Cycling Fellowship to be on Saturday October 26 at 8 AM starting at St Phillips Plaza South side parking lot near the loop. We will start together but each rider can choose their own route and distance. Riders should wear a Rotary cycling jersey.
