Reminder:  There will be no lunch meeting on Wednesday, November 23rd as this is a scheduled Dark Day.  President Bruce and the Rotary office would like to wish each of you and your families a very wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
Mystery Editor ~ 11/16/22
At the stroke of high noon, PRESIDENT BRUCE JACOBS implored us in no uncertain terms that he expected the meeting to begin – without delay nor drama. Everyone knew this order was not open to discussion nor negotiation – and accordingly all responded in the manner that was expected.

The buffet was another gastronomical achievement. We are truly blessed to have Dorinna and Kari assuring that the Convention Center continues to fulfill its obligations in such a professional manner.

“IMAGINE” video plays.

JONATHAN WALKUP lead us in the Pledge and Song - "My Country 'Tis of Thee".

MITCH PISIK gave the Inspirational Presentation. The overriding theme was how impressive are the members of our club. We are the “room of rooms” where “history is made”. How he weaves such eloquent language into a tapestry of intrigue, beauty, reverence, motivation, and wisdom is a gift to behold.

KURTIS DAWSON introduces and welcomes the plethora of guests.

PRESIDENT BRUCE reveals that our generous meeting sponsor is Pima Community College and Pima Foundation. Not coincidentally, our speaker is LEE LAMBERT, who is exuberantly introduced by MARCY EULER.  Pima Foundation also has a corporate membership in the club.

LEE LAMBERT – Chancellor Pima Community College - “Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce: Engagement & Collaboration”. A motivating and impressive dissertation of the national awards won, and programs offered by PCC. LEE did a terrific job in outlining why we are so fortunate to have PCC in southern Arizona.

Book Signing: “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” – donated to Make Way for Books Library.

MARGARET HIGGINS’ birthday was celebrated. Happy Birthday MARGARET!

We had two New Member Introductions, who also received their Blue Badges. 1) JOE DANISZEWSKI introduced and presented the Blue Badge to BRUCE AYERS. 2). FAYE MORSE introduced our Family Member and presented the Blue Badge to ERIC SMITH.  All are accomplished and gracious professionals who are wonderful additions to our club.  Congratulations you two and welcome to the Club!

CHAR HARRIS then presented the Paul Harris award to our major donor, JO DeCHATELET.  JO continues to be very generous to Rotary.  Congratulations JO DeCHATELET!

KURTIS DAWSON awarded the raffle winnings to ERIC SMITH.  KURTIS decided not to allow anyone to win the big prize.

The Ride To End Polio
The Ride to End Polio raises funds for Polio Plus of our international foundation, The Rotary Foundation.  Donations in support of our club's riders in both El Tour and the Indoor Ride not only encourage them to ride, adds funds towards the donor's next Paul Harris Fellow, and is matched 2 to 1 by the Gates Foundation towards Rotary's polio effort to eliminate polio from the face of the earth.  Only two countries continue to be endemic, Pakistan and Afghanistan, though recently a crippling case of polio was reported in an unvaccinated young man in the New York City area.  Our club's El Tour riders include Matt Blair, Jay Gandolfi, Jim Garrett, Aimee Graves, Tom Lickliter, Ernie Montagne, Lee Olitzky, and JW Walkup.  Our club's Indoor riders include Jo DeChatelet, Charlotte Harris, Gary Hirsch, Jen Hoffman, Dot Kret, Ann Lancero, Bobby Larson, Jim Lubinski, Ernie Montagne, Steve Pickering, Darrell Stewart, Hugh Thompson, and Bruce Tunze.  If you wish to ride go online to polioride.org.  If you wish to support this effort, make your check out to The Rotary Foundation, put Ride to End Polio in the memo and let us know what rider you wish to support.  Thank you for this consideration.

Hutch's Pool Hike ~ Recap
Hutch’s Pool

Saturday was a beautiful day for a hike to Hutch's Pool and I was joined by Don Riegger and Michael Guymon.  It was a little on the cool side as we got underway but with the sun shining and clear blue skies, it warmed up nicely.  Save the date of Sunday, December 11th for the last hike of 2022.  We will be making a morning trip to the top of Blackett's Ridge.  More to follow.
Miles of Memories
Miles of Memories

I shared with those in attendance on the 13th that this next year I want us to share “Miles of Memories” together. I referenced the memories we have created together over the years and the impact we have had in so many others lives as well as our own.

The children and the parents receiving the grass ball field in San Carlos transformed from a dirt lot. The recipients and their families that obtained their mobility by receiving a wheelchair in Nogales. The memories of our member that participated along with the memories of working together on various local workday projects. Our hiking, golf, home hospitality fellowships and the list goes on.

I ask for you to help me on “our journey” over this next year by sponsoring me in the “Miles of Memories.” My goal is to walk a minimum of 35 miles a week, 1,825 for the year and honestly want to surpass 2000+. I would like for you to consider donating by the mile and we will share the outcome at the first meeting of each month on my progress.

Donations can go to the Foundation toward a Paul Harris, the President’s Discretionary Fund, or others of your choosing. I want us to have fun on our journey over this next year and to INSPIRE each other and our benefactors through the world of Rotary.

Thank you for your support in making our 102nd year one where we create memories together.
