Our Replacement/Social Mixer is the evening of September 30th. This mixer will be held at Vero Amore (on the patio), 2920 N. Swan, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19 Guidelines, the event is limited to 60 people. We will follow all the safety guidelines (masks, hand sanitizer, distancing, and signed waivers will be needed from all those attending who have not previously submitted). Guests are invited, the fee is $20 and will be billed to your account. If you have not registered for the event and would like to attend, please call the Rotary office.
Let's have some fun! Please remember, there is NO LUNCH MEETING on September 30th.
CLIFF BOWMAN opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and “God Bless America.” The inspiration, presented by PRESIDENT JEN HOFFMAN, was about an electrician who discovered a woman’s entire home was in disrepair and brought the community together to rebuild her house. It’s awesome to see how great humans can be together.
JEFF RONSTADT offered a lesson in science. Did you know Sunflowers always face the sun for their energy? In the absence of sun, they face each other for energy. That reminds him of our speaker and wife, Tiana Ronstadt. I hope that he received some credit for that at home.
Tiana took us through 5 Steps to create our Prosperity Picture. It started with creating a Vision Board…a board that illustrates the things that we have and the things that we want that are most important to us. The board is split into things that we can do now that cost little and much as well as those things we’d like in the future. It was a nice, thought provoking presentation that ended with a reminder that we need to be grateful to ourselves and a hug.
We had two birthdays, KURTIS DAWSON and LYNN DEVOU. KURTIS just turned half of 86 and we learned that he was the Club President of the Aberdeen, WA Rotary Club. LYNN just turned another year older, has allergies and sounded great! It’s hard to believe that she had spinal surgery in June. Great job LYNN!
ELLIE PATTERSON honored HUGH and Allyn THOMPSON for their generosity to Rotary International. They are committed to the great things that Rotary does. HUGH is a Rotarian because of his dad who coordinated and deployed the first Polio Vaccines in the USA! Congratulations HUGH and Allyn.
BRUCE JACOBS reminded us to sign up for the Replacement Mixer at Vero Amore on 9/30. He said the weather will be in the 70’s….perfect. See you there!
JOE DANISZEWSKI and ELLIE PATTERSON updated us on our club’s status as a Peacebuilding Club. Glad to know we are spreading and encouraging peace at a higher level.
JOE also updated us on the Car Show along with JEANNE ZETAH. It’s our commitment to raise money for the charities that we’ve designated so get out there and sell tickets as well as bid on the online auction.
MARK IRVIN encouraged us to participate in the 40 Under 40 breakfast to be held on December 15, 2020. Sounds like a good bunch of go getters that could be great Rotarians!
PRESIDENT JEN closed with a nice, simple toast. Many hugs to you and peace out!
I have laced up my running shoes and started #runningforrotary. I usually run 12-18 miles per week or 48-72 miles per month. You can find a form on our website www.tucsonrotary.org, under the “Member Area” tab, top right corner of the home page, or request one from Dorinna or Kari. You can sponsor me mile for mile for a month, a few months or the entire year. Your donations will go to the area of your choice for our Rotary Club Foundation or even Rotary International. How far do you think I will go #runningforrotary this year? I would like to thank those members who have already signed up and pledged a donation.
