Jennifer Hoffman ~ RCOT President 2020-21
Hello my fellow Rotarians,

I am so excited to see you at our first meeting of my year on July 8 at the Hacienda del Sol. Given the current circumstances, Hacienda del Sol is following all CDC guidelines so we can stay safe and healthy:

1.  All guests are required to wear a mask or a face covering (per new regulations by the City of Tucson and Pima County Government).
2.  The entire facility will have been disinfected prior to the event.  Immediately upon arrival, please use the restrooms to completely wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer.
3.  Please refrain from shaking hands or hugging.
4.  Please maintain a 6’ social distance from each other as much as possible.  Please note:  There will be plenty of space in the dinner area, the foyer and they are setting up tables outside on the patio.
5.  All tables will be seated as tables of four.  No exceptions.
6.  Once seated for lunch, masks will be optional.
7.  Finally, please do NOT attend if any of the following are true for you or your guest:
a)  A fever above 100.4
b)  Shortness of breath
c)  Loss of taste or smell
d)  Dry cough, runny nose or sore throat
e)  Have been recently exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19

Registration will be required for all our July meetings as seating is limited.

Now, as the dust settles on Bob Logan’s year as President, we are all probably saying to ourselves, “Wow, he was really serious about that Reign of Terror!” Talk about going out with a bang, am I right? All kidding aside, I am truly impressed in the way Bob handled his presidency especially navigating through the Pandemic in recent months. The virtual meetings were professional productions that we all are proud of. Thank you so much to Rick Rose for donating your time and facility. I would like to thank Bob for his leadership to the club and for the guidance he has shown me for my upcoming year as President. So now, here we are with me trying to fill the big shoes of Bob Logan and all the amazing leaders who came before. I am truly very humbled and honored to be President of the Rotary Club of Tucson for the next twelve months. And, thanks to the former RCOT Presidents, Dorinna, Kari, the Large Club Conference, PETS and other leadership training programs from Rotary, I feel confident that we will have a fantastic year!

A little bit about my Rotary journey. I joined the Rotary Club of Tucson in August of 2011 sponsored by the late and great Jack Marek.  Not really knowing what Rotary was about, I was drawn in quite quickly by the friendly faces, fun meetings and decided to stay once I really understood the positive impact of Rotary. I was Sergeant at Arms during Dave Gallaher’s Presidency, served as a Director 2014-2016, and served on the Car Show SLT and TLT heading up Beer and Beverage. I have also been host Mom to two wonderful RYE students, Cristina from Italy and Pedro from Brazil, they will forever be part of my family. I absolutely love being in Rotary as Service is very important to me. I think we all have something to give and that is what Rotary is about.

In looking forward to this year, I plan on carrying on traditions and making some new ones.  My focus is member engagement and retention.  I want to engage our members with fantastic programs. I want to grow our membership in a meaningful way that will increase our diversity, while decreasing the average age. I want our members to learn about and understand all the different ways Rotary helps our local community and communities around the world. I want us all to share moments together in which we are moved to laughter, tears and inspired by the people and the world around us. Rotary’s theme this year is “Rotary Opens Opportunities” and I think we will open opportunities if we work together to grow, engage and learn. And, don’t worry we will have FUN, a lot of it. My Grandfather used to say, “If you aren’t having a good time, you are doing it wrong.” I truly am looking forward to this year and I hope you are too. Thank you for the privilege to lead.

Yours in Rotary,

Jennifer Hoffman

July 15th Meeting ~ Hacienda del Sol
Our second meeting in the 2020-2021 Rotary year will take place on Wednesday, July 15th (12:00 noon) at Hacienda del Sol (Casa Luna Room), 5501 N. Hacienda del Sol Road.  Julius Holt, Commissioner of Tucson Youth Football and Spirit Federation will be presenting.

Since we are limited to 48 attendees, ALL members must sign up on the club website to attend (this is first come, first serve), www.tucsonrotary.org.  Scroll down on the left hand side of the Home Page to "Upcoming Events".  Hacienda del Sol needs the attendee numbers by Tuesday, July 7th by 2:00 pm. We realize this deadline is sooner than normal. If you have an optional meal request, please note your selection in the "COMMENT SECTION" when registering on the club website. The meal options were sent via email last week.  We will do our best in ensuring the members who wish to attend a meeting will have the opportunity. Again, due to the limited seating, we are opening up the meetings to members only.  As these restrictions are lifted, we will then be able to host Honorary Members, Visiting Rotarians and Guests.

Thank you everyone for your understanding as we navigate through these difficult times.  If you have questions, please contact the Rotary Office.
Weekly Rotary Zoom Meeting Have Ended

Our weekly Zoom meetings have come to an end.  We would like to thank all of our Zoom hosts, Bob Logan, Jennifer Hoffman, Mark Irvin, Chuck Sawyer and Jeff Ronstadt for taking the time to hold these virtual meetings to keep our members connected during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  We certainly all needed to have a little fellowship during these crazy times.  Looking forward to our masked person to masked person meetings at Hacienda del Sol...
