Rotary Club of Tucson is sponsoring an all-inclusive Rotarian service project Saturday April 13, 2024 at the Triangle Y YMCA Ranch Camp from 8:30AM-1:00PM. The Annual Rotary Days Service Project is open to all Rotarians and friends of Rotarians and families. There are jobs for all age groups and skill levels. Generally, we help spruce up the Ranch for the incoming summer camp session that begins in June. In the past, we have painted cabins, stained wood beams, assembled and painted picnic tables, trimmed brush, painted the bathrooms, performed some small masonry work, and general clean up.
Registration is Saturday morning 8:00-8:30 AM at the Ranch (please register at this link: Email Kurtis Dawson kurtistucsonrotary@gmail.com with any questions. A free lunch will be served at 1:00PM. Come for several hours or stay for just an hour. This is a good chance to mingle with Rotarians from all over Tucson. It is a great way to introduce Rotary to your friends and neighbors. Please bring gloves and sunscreen and a water bottle.

Camp Lawton’s Rotary Service Day is coming up May 18, 2024!
Celebrate over 100 years of Rotary Service and Scouting collaboration at Camp Lawton’s Rotary Service Day. In 1919, Architect John Lyman, the first Tucson Rotary Club president, prepared and laid out the plan for the first Scout Camp on Mount Lemmon. The club later provided funds for the first permanent structure in 1922 at what became known as Camp Lawton. The collaboration has continued over the last 100+ years as hundreds of Rotarians and thousands of scouts have enjoyed the same pines and cooler weather.
Bring your family and friends for a fun and fulfilling day on the mountain preparing and improving the camp for the coming summer season.
We’ll be tackling a variety of camp improvements, both easy and challenging, with painting, trail improvements, repairs, and other tasks. You’ll also have a chance to try your hand at some scouting skills.
Morning coffee and lunch will be provided.
Where: Camp Lawton, 12900 Organization Ridge Road, Mt. Lemmon, AZ 85619
(off Catalina Highway behind the Palisades Visitor Center at milepost 18)
When: May 18, 2024; Check in begins at 8.30, projects begin at 9.00. Expect lunch at 12.00, and projects and activities wrapped up no later than 3.00 pm.
Contacts: Jon Harned jonathan@lynncapital.org; Shannon Roberts shannon.robertsphd@scouting.org; Don Riegger don@rieggers.com

Aug. 10, 2024 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Good morning friends,
Although delayed in the announcement, hike #3 of the Summer Series is quickly approaching and we will be venturing up Mount Lemmon again on Saturday, August 10th with meeting/departure from LeBuzz at Catalina Highway and Tanque Verde. Departure at 6:30AM for 8AM start with projected completion at 11AM. Lunch TBA.
For this next hike on the Mountain, we will be venturing into the Wilderness of Rocks trail accessing the saddle via the Marshall Gulch trail. I am estimating the hiking distance between 5-6 total miles, with turnaround point at the Lemmon Rock trail, if not before. This hike is categorized as moderate with approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain. For reference, Marshall Gulch is 1.2 miles and Wilderness of Rocks to Lemon Rock is 1.7.
I hope that many will be joining and see you on the trails! Contact Bruce Richardson

We have an opportunity to assist Sister Jose Women's Shelter. a 2024 Car Show beneficiary, this year. Sister Jose is dedicated to assisting women experiencing homelessness in a welcoming safe space. Their day center provides unaccompanied women who are unhoused with a stable and safe environment to recuperate from the daily struggle of homelessness and extreme poverty. We'll be doing two donation drives with items their women will need on August 21 and October 2. There will also be two service projects September 21 and October 5. September 21 encompasses weed restoration (picking) and October 5 will be some fence painting. Please take a look at the flyers on your table for the list of items needed for the donation drive. Good afternoon friends,
I just wanted to get this advisement out for the final trek of the First Annual Summer Hiking Series. This is always a great trail with great views of the city. Martha and I are hopeful to see another large group like the June trip and this is always a popular one.
See you on the trails!

We will meet at LeBuzz located at Tanque Verde & Catalina Highway. This is a moderate hike covering just under 4 miles with 831 feet of vertical with hiking time of approximately 2.5 hours. As always, a stop for a bite/beverage at one of the local establishments is likely.
